Tony made it there, showed his fake ID, and was allowed entrance into the apartment with some other investigators. He searched the motel room. Money on the table, the shirtless corpse in bed, etc.
"Guess he wanted to go out with a bang." Tony mumbled as he glanced to the beaten body while poking around the room.
"It isn't polite to make fun of the deceased."
Tony turned to see who was even bothering him and ruining his little jokes to himself that he found really funny, but apparently others didn't.
It was Loki. He'd already dressed for a day of hunting and made his way over. It wasn't very far as you know. He was in his long black coat that covered him to his ankles. It was winter anyway so it was more normal than mysterious. After all he didn't want people thinking he was the killer.
"I thought they only let real detectives in crime scenes."
Tony flashed a vicious grin. Loki was quick to strike back.
"And I was unaware children were allowed access as well. It seems we are both surprise."
They had met before. A few cases in the past brought the two near, but never together. They only ever cross paths, throw an insult, and carry on. Usually they had brief chats or a quick exchange of clues and ideas. This time it took a different course.
"Long time no see L. Catch any actual monsters yet?"
"Stark, if I was chasing shadows out of children's nightmares I would cross paths with you more often. You know I am only interested in real danger."
"Whatever." Tony rolled his eyes. He glanced around them before speaking lowly again.
"You and I both know exactly what is going here. I say if we plan on putting a stake through this vamp we gotta do it together. I've never seen anything like this before. So many deaths in such a short time. We have a serious monster on our hands."
Loki considered it a moment. This one blow away all past vampire hunts. It could be a trap, like they were being lured into corner where the vampires could end them. The hunt could become two sided at any moment. Still, Loki used some pretty suspicious methods for defeating monsters. He couldn't allow Tony to know about it.
"I work alone."
Tony was confused as well as agitated. No one ever turns down the Tony Stark.
"Fine. Do what you want. I'll see you around. Now excuse me, I'm heading out now. I have a clue for this blood sucker's next stop."
Tony was already swaggering out the door. He had the information he needed, and was reading to move again. You see, it's just like a scavenger hunt. You take some clues and guess where the next stop will be.
Loki stayed behind and continued to search the room and the body. It was so mutilated he questioned if it was even a vampire that attacked him.
