All she wanted were some painkillers. Just something to numb the pain. She wanted painkillers, someone to understand all her broken pieces, and glue.

But she learned the hard way, that you don't always get what you want.

Somewhere deep inside me, I knew she needed help. When she came to university with a fake smile and broken eyes, she screamed for help. I don't think I was the only one who heard her. But everyone ignored her.

Adalyn's past was a secret tucked away in her heart. She was afraid that with a past filled with scars, no one would ever come close to loving her. She braved through the battlefield long enough on her own, and she was fine trudging through it alone.

I wanted to tell her that she wasn't alone. I wanted to hold out my hand and guide her through the dark. I'm not sure what held me back.

Maybe it was a fear to know her. She was the girl with her hair covering her face and the faded smile. I don't know why I was afraid. She was just a person who needed a bit of help. Why the hell didn't I try and help her sooner?
