✦ A sudden storm ✦

It wasn’t supposed to rain.

Taehyung cursed softly under his breath as he stood outside Hope Institute, watching the sky crack open.
Thunder roared. The power went out. The wind blew hard against the glass.

“Great,” he muttered. “Now I’m stuck here.”

He turned to go back in, only to crash into something warm and solid.

"Careful," a familiar voice said. “You’ll catch a cold.”

Taehyung looked up and blinked. “Mr. Jeon?”

Jungkook had just finished a faculty meeting. His white shirt clung slightly to his chest from the humidity. His sleeves were rolled up. His face unreadable.

"You can stay inside," he said. "Lights are out, but I have candles in the teacher’s lounge."

---

✦ The Lounge ✦

The room glowed faintly with candlelight. It was quiet, the rest of the building empty.

Jungkook placed two mugs of hot coffee between them and sat beside Taehyung on the small couch.

The silence was thick. Not awkward, just heavy.

Like something was about to break.

“Why are you always so guarded?” Taehyung asked softly, staring into his cup.

Jungkook looked away. “Because when I let my guard down once... it ruined me.”

Taehyung’s eyes flicked to him. “So... love hurt you?”

Jungkook didn’t answer.

Instead, he turned toward Taehyung slowly. His dark eyes glimmered like ink in the candlelight.

“You shouldn’t want someone like me,” he murmured. “I’m too cold. Too careful.”

Taehyung smiled softly. “Then stop making me warm.”

Silence again.

And then—

Their lips met.

It wasn’t rushed.

It wasn’t messy.

It was... honest.

A long, quiet, trembling kiss. Full of tension that had built up for weeks. Their hands found each other without a thought, their hearts beating fast. When they finally pulled apart, Taehyung’s eyes were glassy.

“You kissed me,” he whispered.

Jungkook leaned his forehead against Taehyung’s, breathing heavily.

“I shouldn’t have,” he said.

“Why?”

“Because...” Jungkook stood up, his voice suddenly sharp. “I have a fiancée.”

---

✦ Silence ✦

Taehyung felt the air suck out of his lungs.

“…What?” he whispered, staring at him. “I thought… Soejoon said—”

“It’s not Jieun,” Jungkook cut in. “It’s real. Arranged. Family pressure.”

Taehyung stood up too. His voice cracked. “Then why—why would you kiss me?!”

Jungkook’s jaw tightened. “Because I’m stupid. Because I wanted to. Because I forgot myself.”
