Chapter 4

"Annora, Annora, please wake up" A familiar voice pleads

I feel large hands shaking me and my eyes immediately open and in front of me is Alex but something was off. His eyes seemed to show that he was nervous or scared. And he never called me by my name, ever. It was always something like beleza or amor. He said because to him I was more than what I was called I was his everything. I yawned, not understanding the cause for his panic and asked softly trying not to disturn Chris "Alex what's wrong?"

His deep and usually calm voice rose in panic as he looked about the room but what he said next, nothing could've prepared me for. "Thhhh,ttheyyy," he tried but all he managed was stutters

He took a large breath and then his eyes connected with mine and he said finally "They're coming mi luz, they're coming now."

I stared blankly into his eyes with a look of great confusion and ask the question that was imprinted in my mind but part of me knows who...what he's referring to. "The shad.." he begins

Then suddenly the big brass door swung open waking Chris and startling me but somehow Alex remained icy calm. Like he was expecting this...

Suddenly in stormed the Dragon lady but instead of her icy green eyes staring at me, there was something else. Her white hair was still there and her unsmiling mouth was as unsmiling as ever but replacing her green eyes was instead pitch black darkness. No pupil, no iris just pure black. I'd only ever seen this once before... with papa. Oh, no the shadows thats what Alex was speaking about.

She turned her inhuman gaze towards me and started towards me, Chrissy and Alex's direction. Before I had time to process what was happening, I felt her cold hand collide with my chest blasting back towards the iron railed and I recoiled as I felt my head conncet with the cold lead pipe. As I started to open my eyes I saw her starting towards Chrissy... no. I felt all my fear get channeled elsewhere and then suddenly just like that faithful night 5 years ago... the dragon lady set on fire. I was in utter shock. So I am a monster. I felt my body begin to sag and my eyes begin to flutter.

"Christina come on we need to get out.."

"What about Ann..."

"I've got her. it...."

Then the incomplete sentences faded out and I was out.
