Part 2- Airports and Plane rides
It was 1:30 pm. I had around 5 hours until my flight at 7:00 to London. I invited my closest friend in America, Emma, over to my house to help me finish up and keep me company.
Yesterday, Emma took me shopping for a "New London wardrobe" as she called it. I came home with exactly 24 shopping bags while Emma went home with 16. I was wondering why she bought so many clothes. I mean I was leaving to London. That was my excuse. Oh well. Anyways, we take our shopping very seriously.
We finished packing most of my stuff yesterday, but were just adding some last minute things.
I heard my bed creak as Emma got off and walked over to where I was sitting on the floor.
She reached her arms out and enveloped me in the warmest hug ever. The feeling brought a smile to my face.
"Bloody god, Em. I'm going to miss you!" I said as streams of tears trickled down her cheeks.
"Me too, Liv," she said with a barely audible whisper.
She looked sad, but even I wasn't stupid enough to not hear the smile in her voice. She was hiding something for sure.
I decided to drop it. Surely if she was my best friend, she'd tell me before I boarded the plane to London.
She laced her long, elegant fingers through mine, tickling my skin.
"God I'm gonna miss everything about you! Who's going to greet me with a sexy American accent every morning on the phone? Who's gonna get fat on ice cream with me when my boyfriend breaks my heart? Who's going to go shopping with me when I'm bored? Em don't leave me!" I bawled loudly.
"I wish you could come with me!"
"Well-" she started, looking down and tapping her foot rhythmically, "I just found out yesterday, but I got accepted too!"
I dropped my phone at the news. I was utterly and completetly shocked.
I guess she saw my expression and took it as a bad thing, because then, she said, "I'm sorry Olive! I didn't mean to upset you! I was just goofing around! I didn't think they'd actually accept me. I'll just decline the offer."
"No. NO!" I happily screamed. "Em that's absolutely GREAT news! We'll be plane buddies and roommates too! Is your flight at 7:00 today, too?"
She giggled at my reaction and gave a simple reply. "Yup," she said popping the p.
I tackled her to the floor with the biggest hug I could manage. "YAAAAAAY!"
After packing every single thing that I would need in the slightest way possible in London for the next 6 years, Emma and me ventured off to the airport with Emma's mum, Ruby.
It was 6:00 when we got there, which meant that we'd have an hour to spare before saying goodbye to Aunt Ruby.
We went to a little restaurant in the airport that was just across from Terminal 12, where me and Emma would get on our plane.
"All passengers for Flight 35, all passengers for Flight 35," a computerized voice blared over the speakers, "please board at Terminal 12."
From the corner of my eye, I saw a stray tear roll down Aunty Ruby's cheek. At the same time me and Emma jumped onto her lap, embracing her tightly in a hug.
It may seem weird from someone else's perspective, but ever since I moved to America, she was like a mum to me.
"I'm gonna miss you guys so much. Take care of each other. Emma, I love you so much. Be careful, and if any guys break your heart, call me so I can fly down there and kick their ass for you. I love you baby and I'm gonna miss you!" She pecked both of Em's cheeks softly.
