Meredith's P.O.V
I wake up and go downstairs to the kitchen and see a note.

-Hi sweetheart, I'm sorry I had to leave this note but I had to leave very quickly. As you know we filled out a missing person report when your mom left. Well I had a call from the a hospital in Texas. Your mother is there. She is in critical condition since she was in a very bad car accident. I didn't want to bring you and Ben because I don't know how the three of you would act. So I'm going to be gone for three weeks. You can take care of yourself and your brother, and you know what to do with the cattle. I'll call you at 5pm. Love, dad-

My eyes are watering and I didn't even notice Mike come into the kitchen.

"Meredith what's wrong?" I couldn't say anything, I just gave him the note. Once he read he looked at me for a couple seconds. "I'm so sorry" I didn't even answer him. I ran to my room and locked the door.

-hey Lauryn, can we meet at the park?- I text Lauryn as quickly as a could.

-sure. Is everything ok?-

-I'll tell you later-

I change out of my pyjamas and put a T-shirt and shorts on. I leave the house completely ignoring Mike asking if I'm ok and I go to the park. I see Lauryn sitting on a bench and I sit beside her.

"Meredith are you ok? What's wrong?"

"My mom. She's in the hospital." She looked shocked, she didn't say anything. "She's in Texas. She got into a bad car accident and they called my dad. So he's staying there for three weeks."

"You haven't seen her for eight years" she blurted out. I sigh

"I know. Ben doesn't even remember her." We both look down. "Lauryn I don't know what to do. I hate her"

"You don't hate her, your just mad. And you have the right to be. But you don't hate her, even though she left she's your mother."  I shake my head.

"The moment she decided to leave was the moment she decided to not be my mother. She only cared about herself."

"Look maybe she has a legit reason why she left." I stand up.

"There is no legit reason to leave your husband and kids without a word." With that I walked away. I couldn't handle talking to anyone. No one in this damn town knows what I'm going threw.
