"We're not leaving this household Luna Athelia Everett." My mother shouting with an irritated look upon her face.
"I'm sorry mom. I'll just go to my room to try and sleep."I said as I walked up the stairs into my room. What you've just witnessed, was my mother refusing me my right to sleep. Sounds crazy right? Well this is a normal thing. Due to my irrational mindset of only being able to sleep when being driven around the city, not only did my mother lose sleep, but she would also get mad at herself for starting this.
How did she start this? Well, almost every night when I was younger due to my mother working in the mornings, she would normally go grocery shopping, and I would always fall asleep in her car up until I was 10. After that, my father would drive me around, but lately with his schedule he would be all over the place, leaving mom to deal with my nightly habits.
I'm normally okay with my mom, until she tells me she won't drive me around. Then we have a problem."Hey baby girl. Come on, the car is ready." My dad said. This is the part where I fall asleep. But now my mind was awake, because college was coming up too soon for my liking.
As we climbed into the car, I asked myself if I could really try to sleep without my midnight drive. No. I had tried before, but had not fallen asleep. I only laid in my bed after my drive, when my dad picked me up to go my room.I sat in the car, waiting for my dad to get in. "Dad, do you think that when I go to college I'll still be able to sleep?"I asked him as he climbed into the car.
"I don't know. We only have two days to figure out if we can let you sleep without the drives, then you're off."he said with tears in his eyes. See, I was a daddy's girl. So seeing this was going to make me cry.
"Daddy don't cry. You're going to make me cry."I said, feeling the tears start to prick my eyes.
"I'm sorry baby girl. It's just that I'm going to miss you." "I'm going to miss you too daddy.""Okay, enough of being cry babies." He teased with a smile. He started up the car as I got comfortable. Then he drove off, into the darkness, only the city lights to guide his way.
