Author's Note: The Ending They Deserved

I wanted to write this epilogue four years ago.

Four years ago, I reached the end of their story — Nedim and Ceren — and I closed the chapter with trembling hands and an aching heart. I knew then, as I know now, that they deserved a happy ending. But I couldn't bring myself to write it. Not yet. Not when the wounds were still fresh, the silence still heavy, and the pain of everything they'd endured hadn't fully settled in my own chest as their writer.

I was afraid. Afraid of spoiling the weight of their journey with something too light. Afraid that giving them peace might erase the magnitude of their struggle. Most of all, I wasn't ready to say goodbye — not when I had watched them love, fall apart, rebuild, and survive something most people wouldn't. Their love was fragile and ferocious, soft and unbreakable. It deserved more than just a rushed finale.

So I waited.

And now, after time and distance and reflection, I finally found the courage to return. To give them the ending I always imagined but never dared to put into words — until now.

This epilogue is for them.
For every moment they fought for each other when it would have been easier to let go.
For the pain they survived, the home they built, the son they raised, and the love that never died — not even when he was nearly taken from her forever.

It's time.
They've earned their light after the darkness.
Their warmth after the storm.
Their forever.

So here it is — the chapter that always waited for me to be brave enough.

With love,
—The Author

The late afternoon sun bathed the vineyard in amber light, casting long shadows over the neat rows of grapevines that shimmered with ripening fruit. The warm breeze carried the sweet tang of sun-soaked grapes, mingling with the earthy perfume of turned soil and the faint rustle of leaves swaying like a lullaby over the valley.

Atop the gently sloping hill, the familiar hum of an engine broke the stillness — low, steady, beloved. It was not just any car. It was his car. A sound that meant comfort. Return. Love.

Inside the warm stone house, Ceren stood barefoot on the creaking wood floor, wrapped in a flowing white summer dress that danced around her knees. Her golden hair, long and slightly tousled by the open windows, gleamed like spun honey in the golden light, and her emerald green eyes lit up with a spark as the sound reached her ears. A striped dish towel was thrown over her shoulder, her hands fragrant with rosemary and fresh mint as she chopped herbs on the counter, the scent of garlic and olive oil gently enveloping the kitchen.

The air in her chest stilled — caught in the sweet grip of anticipation — before a soft gasp escaped her lips and was instantly replaced by a radiant smile.
