I didnt realize i was holding my breath until he slowly released me.

"Im sorry your highness.. Lets head back."

With that nothing else was said, we walked back to the castle in silence, he helped me through the thicket but touched me as little as possible.

He escorted me to my room before disappearing out of sight.

Night fell quickly and soon I was fast asleep.

My dreams full of Alyn and i in the woods.

"Oh Anna! Ive wanted to do this since i laid eyes on you. You're the most beautiful woman ive ever met."

Alums lips slowly enclosed mine, as i gasped for air he took the chance, his tongue flicked across mine. I gasped again as he pulled me closer to him.

Slowly our lips part, "please my dear Anna, choose me to be your suitor."

A knock on my door pulled me from my slumber. Goggily i open my eyes to see a smiling Louis, "rise and shine princess. Today's the day."

I groan the ball.

Im supposed to chose a suitor, and the ball is meant to expose me to the eligible bachelor's.

I stand from my bed and the door once again is opened this time by my maids who are to do my makeup, hair and dress.

After a painful 2 hours of hair and makeup my large sapphire blue dress is sliped over my body. It got snug, much tighter than my mothers dress she had made, it forced my body into stiff proper posture. A small crown adorn eith sapphires and diamonds is carefully placed in my manicured hair with blue heels.

Upon exiting the room i am met by Louis, "look Anna, not to be that dude but im going to be. Im the best chance you have for a suitor. Alyn wont give up his position for anyone, especially for you. If you don't believe me ask the knights he was talking to."

My eyes direct to the floor, all confidence lost. I feel Louis's eyes on me but i continue to look st the floor until we are entering the ballroom.

"Head up princess! Confidence is key."

But how can i have confidence when all hope is lost?

I will myself to straighten up and look at the room as if i own it. I release Louis the second i see Alyn and take my assigned position beside him.

Neither saying a word as we stare a head as if the other doesn't exist.

Alyn finally breaks the silence, "is something wrong, your highness?"

I shake my head, "its nothing of concern. Ive figured out a few truths about things now im just figuring out what to do."

I step away from him unseen from all others and onto the balcony.

Foot steps draw my attention to alyn who looks concerned, "may i ask if this truth involve you wanting a new knight to guard you??"

I stand there stunned, "i was told you didn't want me. You know if all you see me as i the princess and not a person i understand that and i accept that. But don't belittle me to your knights! Youre dismissed Alyn."

"An-"

"I said you were dismissed Alyn, please don't cause me anymore pain."

He bows his head respectfully and leaves, all strength in my knees leaves my body and i slip down the railing and sit alone on the balcony.

I keep myself from allowing the tesrs to fall as i wouldn't want to mess up the makeup the maids worked so hard on. Once i regain my composure i reenter the ballroom, my eyes search for Alyn but he's no longer in the room, his second in command has taken his place.

The night flies by quickly, as many men take my hand in dance but none of them are Alyn..

My mind flitters back to the night in the woods, he seemed as though he was going to kiss me. What stopped him? Is it true that he doesn't want me?

That night i slept poorly, most of it was sat in my windowsill wishing upon the shooting star that wasn't there, "please... Show me what i should do.."

As if my prayer was answered alyn approached the garden, this is my chance!

I jump up and race doen the corridors leading me to my knight. Upon hearing my approach he turns swiftly and i rush to him throwing my arms around him without a care.

"Im sorry Alyn, i allowed my feelings to get the best of me and i won't do it ever again. Youre too important to me to lose, even if you remain simply my knight."

Alyns arms instinctively caught me and pulled my body closer to his, "oh Anna. I was worried you hated me for what almost happened in the woods."

I pause, "what almost happened in the woods?"

In an instant his lips are on mine, they move slowly against mine then faster and rougher as mine mimic his.

We pull away gasping for air, i gently rest my head on his chest, "oh Alyn. Louis told me you didn't want to be with me let alone around me that you were doing it simply because it was your job."

He narrows his eyes "that little- anyways.. No Anna I... I love you. And i have for a while, but im nervous about giving up my position because its all ive ever had but I cant help but want more... Want, well- you."

I smile, tears brim my eyes "oh Alyn! I lovr you too, and i want you more than life itself. Please don't let go of me, i need you."

"I never will. You will forever be cherished."

Alums escorted me back to my room with another secret kiss he bid me goodnight and we separated.
