Shattered facade (Gakuen Alice fanfiction)

We're going to England!

It was a normal morning in Alice Academy.

The birds were chirping , the sun was shining, Bear was sharpening his axe before cutting logs, etc. Well, you get the picture.

Also.....Mikan Sakura was running late. AGAIN.

Her (usual) scream upon seeing the time on her alarm clock, that is, 8:20, was punctuated by exclamations of "I'm late!" and "There is only 10 minutes left!". All in all, there seemed to be chaos. If you came into her room at that time, you would see things flying around (quite dangerous), several more screams being issued from the brunette as she quickly ran out of the door (after locking it, of course), after a while, tripping over a certain raven-haired boy (whom we all know) who promptly called her by the pattern of her panties ("Today it's Strawberries, eh?") upon which Mikan would yell something to the effect of " Natsume, you pervert/hentai/ baka!" and continue running.

After this daily routine was finished, Mikan ran towards her classroom of 10-A.
Yes, she had grown up and was now in Grade 10.

Upon reaching her destination, she pushed upon the door, only to bend down in a deep bow and say "Please forgive me for being late" as she usually did. She expected another detention from Jinno-sensei (more commonly known as Jin-Jin), but she heard a voice tell her to stand up and go to her seat. "It's alright, Mikan-chan", said Narumi-sensei.

"Yes, it's Narumi-sensei's class today!" thought Mikan, as she sighed in relief and went to her seat next to Natsume, all the while wishing the class good morning.

"So everyone, now that Mikan-chan has joined us, I can tell you all about the SUUPER FUN activity we're going to do in a week!" screamed Narumi as he twirled around in his chosen outfit for the day..... a NEON GREEN jumpsuit with what seemed to be SPARKLY PAINT splattered on it and NEON ORANGE frills at the waist. Even though everyone was curious about the 'activity', most people quickly turned away to protect their eyes from the brightness.

Mikan-chan was the only one who properly faced the teacher and asked "What is the activity, Narumi-sensei?". Which prompted Narumi to twirl around even more (which made some people consider telling him to stop twirling even if he will not tell them what the activity is about).

But thankfully he stopped twirling and announced with a pose (that looked like he was going to deliver the best news they will ever hear) "We are going to visit... England!"

This exclamation was met with a sudden silence.

This was because the students were either
a) So shocked they couldn't respond
b) Needed some time to process the news (this was actually just Mikan)
c) Didn't care about it at all (well..... everyone knows which were the two people who felt this way....)

So after the majority of the class recovered from their shock, they bombarded Narumi-sensei with questions "Where in England?" "Why now?" "When are we leaving?" "How are we traveling?" "How much money do we get?" "Where are we staying?". On and on and on.

Finally, when Narumi-sensei threatened to use his infamous powers, everyone shut up.

"Everyone, I understand that you're all excited but I can't give you all answers if all of you are going to shoot questions at me that fast. Now since my class over I can't answer questions now but tomorrow I promise I'll answer your questions. So please wait patiently until then." Saying this Narumi-sensei turned to leave the class when he saw a hand raised at the the back.

Seeing that it was Mikan's hand and since he was especially fond of her, he thought he'll at least answer her question.

"Fine, fine. One question. What is it, Mikan-chan?" asked Narumi-sensei. Mikan slowly stood up, all the while covering her eyes with her bangs and looking quite gloomy and not entirely like her usual self. She then asked, in a slightly strange voice, "Do we really have to go to England?"

Upon hearing this, Narumi was really taken aback. He had expected a question like "When are we going?". Or maybe something like "Does our star level affect the allowance we get on the trip, if we get an allowance?". But not a question like this. Also Mikan's mood seemed...off today. He would have to talk with her later in which he'd ask her if something was bothering her.

Either way, Mikan was waiting for his answer. But just when he opened his mouth to ask her if she had a problem with England, she immediately smiled one of her usual happy smiles and said, "Forget that I asked that question, Narumi-sensei! What I really want to know is if Howalon is available in England too! I really hope it is!"

Everyone, who were also looking strangely at her for asking such a weird question, immediately started laughing at her and Mikan slowly sat down with a sheepish look on her face.

Narumi-sensei started to relax, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something wrong with Mikan.

When he turned to leave the class again, he saw that Natsume and Hotaru were also looking strangely at Mikan.

"Well", Narumi thought to himself, "They think something's wrong with her too."

Then he realised he was really late so he quickly ran to the staff room.
