Chapter III
"I shouldn't have gone to that wilderness... I only made a fool of myself" Mead said in a low remorseful tone.
Chad remained silent though, he was busy tapping his phone screen in another session of Candy Crush Saga."Chad?"
"Huh?" Chad stood up suddenly like he was pricked by a pin "Sorry man, what did you say?"
"Forget it."
"I have to get going, your Mum will be home soon"
"Sure thing man, Say 'Hello' to Aunt Mary for me" Mead replied, but His last words were not heard by Chad as he swooped out of the building like a person in pursuit.
Chad's sudden exit was understood by Mead though, Chad always did such to avoid Mead's moping. Not long after Chad's exit, Mead began to think of other ways to socialise, he thought about going window-shopping the next day but his fantasy was cut short by a rap on the door."Come in!" He shouted, even though his back was turned to the door and should be conscious of who would be at his door at 9 P.M in the night.
"Mead? I should have known you'll be here feeling down."
"I shouldn't have come to your house Amelia... " He answered, turning his head to confirm the voice, however he saw Emma walking towards the sitting room instead.
" Emma?! You were at that party?" Mead said with his mouth wide-open.
"Oh please, I saw what happened," Emma answered discarding the question as she grabbed a seat on a sette opposite him. "What's up with you two?" Emma asked crossing her legs as she felt at home on the sette facing him.
Mead's mind was far from where he was though, Emma Davis was sitting opposite him, her long brown hair resting on her shoulders, her shoulder covered with a beige short-sleeved crop-top that stopped just a little above her belly button with a deep blue Jean trousers stretching a few inches below her knee, revealing her nicely tanned legs albeit with small spots. Mead had forgotten she asked a question and tried to remember what it was.
"I shouldn't have gone..." He repeated like a robot, recalling his attention to the matter at hand and to stop him from thinking about her nicely tanned legs.
"Well, you shouldn't have," She replied, "I talked to him about it though, he didn't care! He didn't even tell me if you were at home or not when I asked about you... Forget that, How are you doing?" Her voice was gentle and comforting even though they spilled no comforting words.
Mead looked at her with a 'can't you see am not fine' expression and continued to look down at his feet. Emma was starting to feel a awkward situation coming,
"Where's Janet?" she asked
"Her room maybe... Probably sleeping" He answered feeling guilty of making Emma feel awkward, "Tell me about your trip" He said, sitting upright and looking directly at her.
"I thought you'd never ask!" she said excitedly and stood up from the sette she was sitting to sit on Mead's right armrest.
"I took pictures! Paris was awesome!" she declared as she pulled out her phone to show him, she must have taken over a hundred pictures because she just kept swiping endlessly to the point that Mead was getting bored, but then he realised that she was moving closer to him and her scent was filling his nostrils as she did so."This was one of the restaurants I went to, 'La cuisine' or so" she spoke softly as she stopped swiping and grabbed hold of his arm to pass him the phone, then her free arm rested on the other side of his shoulder.
