I looked into my mirror and smiled at my reflection. I had my long blonde hair pulled into a pony tail with a couple of stray hairs here and there. I went with the no makeup look being that I was going to a pool party. Unlike other girls I could survive without a mask of makeup on my face. I wore a simple strapless sundress with my favorite pink bikini underneath. I was pretty confident with my body so I didn’t really mind the bikini, it was the whole dress thing that threw me off.
A thing you should know about me is that I’m very accident prone. Lets just say anything dangerous or embarrassing within a five mile radius, will find me. Dresses give so many opportunities for embarrassment. The top falling down, bending over while forgetting you have a dress on, trying to sit on a high stool ect...
My friends constantly laugh at me for all the ridiculous things that happen to me, but at least im giving them some sort of entertainment! That’s another thing. I love to make people laugh, and im pretty good at it, most of the time without even trying. Lets just say im pretty darn special. Don’t get me wrong im not stupid or anything, I’m just not normal. I have a pretty bad case of verbal diarrhea. I talk constantly and don’t think twice about anything I say. This only magnifies in embarrassing situations or when im nervous.
Surprisingly, I have friends. Im a pretty happy person and being that this year is my senior year life just gets even better. Summer was almost over and that is why im standing here looking in the mirror. My best friend Sarah is throwing an end of the summer pool party at her house. Well actually its more of a mansion than a house, but since I practicly live there ive gotten pretty used to it. Sarahs family owns some big computer company that is obviously very successful. They are loaded, but you would never know that when meeting Sarah.
I can still remember the first time I met her. It was at lunch in third grade. Sarah was new and for some people being the new girl was easy. I watched Sarah walk up to my table, which only consisted of a few others and myself, and literally sat on top of the table. I was astounded by her boldness as were the other nine year olds. I asked her what she was doing and she simply replied saying “Getting noticed.”
That is how we became best friends, and how Sarah became the most popular girl in school, which to this day hasn’t changed. I don’t really fit in with the whole popular crowd, but Sarah never makes me feel excluded. She mostly hangs out with me anyway, even though people practically worship her. Okay, maybe not worship, but close enough.
“Come on Maddie, people are starting to arrive!” Sarah said putting on another layer of lipgloss to her already perfectly glossed lips.
“I just don’t know about this dress Sarah.” I said pulling it up once again.
“Then just take it off! It’s a pool party remember.” Sarah said putting a hand on her hip. Sarah only wore a strapless green bikini top and matching bottoms. She also had her long chocolate brown hair cascading down her back and perfect makeup.
I sighed. “Fine then!” I pulled the dress off and did my best attempt at a sexy pose
“Okay hot stuff lets go!” Lucy said grabbing my arm and pulling me out of her room. Before walking down the stairs she turned and placed her hands on my shoulders. “Okay, no embarrassing moments tonight. Okay?” She smirked. “Did you shave? We don’t need a repeat of last year.”
I slapped her arm. “You promised not to talk about that!” I said but still checked my armpits just in case making her laugh.
“Im just trying to save my best friend from embarrassment!” She said
“That’s why I love you.”
She laughed. “You ready?” She asked slowly desending the stairs.
