"Shit".

The first time I talked to her, I cursed.

I didn't mean to say it aloud. And, I was glad I only said part of my thoughts. Because I was thinking, shit she's gorgeous.

I didn't want to be more embarrassed than I already was. So, I turned around and walked over to the male bathroom to hit my forehead with my palm . Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I had seen her across walking down the hall. A couple of feet away from my locker. I was putting my Biology book inside of it. She was alone and on her phone. I hadn't noticed her at first- well, I did notice her. I just didn't realize how exquisite she was.

Not until I turned around, tripped on my untied shoelace and fell on her.

It's amazing what a shoelace could do.

A few hours earlier, in first period, I made a friend named Ryan. He was a basketball ball player on the varsity school team: The Hornets.

"But, dude, I suck", Ryan had said when I said congratulations.

"Then...", I paused, "How did you get on the team if you suck?".

"My father-My father is the principal", he had glanced at the door as if expecting me to go through it at the mention of his father being the man in charge. I looked at the door wondering where the teacher was.

"Cool", I had said.

He looked surprised and said, "Um", he looked down, "Your shoes are untied".

I said, "Oh".

The teacher walked in and our conversation was over.

I forgot to tie my shoes and I tripped into the girl who was walking down the hallway alone with her phone to her face.

"I'm sorry", she said, "I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you okay?'.

I looked up at her face and looked at her crooked teeth and ears and nose and eyes.

I didn't speak.

"Hello?", she waved her hand in my face, "Are you okay?".

Shit. She was gorgeous,

"Shit", I said.

Then, I turned and ran in the other direction.
