One of the major causes of depression is parental influence. Please read this topic very carefully as it is very common and the major cause of depression. This is a very important topic and I would like to explain it to you with examples.

Case 1:   there is a child named Alvin.
He is an average child but his parents expect more from him. They constantly dominate him. Though he puts all his hard work but still his parents are not happy with it. The kid Alvin is terrified with it.

Case 2:    another child named Charlie who is low in studies but yet is very fit and good in sports. He manages and gets passing marks but yet his parents are not happy with it. They think that getting passing marks Is not enough and Charlie needs to work more hard. They constantly comment on his work and try to down him so that he works hard.

Case 3:    aamir is an intelligent child and scores well in almost all the papers. Though he doesn't like to write much he is a happy child. His parents still feel that he is not much hardworking and needs to concentrate more on his studies. His parents therefore in an effort to improve his grades stopped considering his marks as good and kept telling him that he is becoming average day by day.

Did you see anything common in the situations ? Well, there were comments from the parents which made the kids feel very unhappy and depressed. In today's time there is such a race between the students that even the parents get involved so much that they want their kids to be the top in this race. To do this they give critical comments and try to down their children so that they work hard. This leads the children to suffer depression and be unhappy. One can prevent this by not interfering too much and giving children their personal space. Also parents should always know that every child is special in his/her own way. If they do so their will be improvement in both the parents' and the child's behaviour.
