Samantha laid down in a tunnel, unconscious. After a few seconds she awoke with a scream. She didn't know why she screamed or why she was in the tunnel. She stood and looked around the concrete cave. What she saw frightened her.

The walls were dripping with blood. Odd symbols were written on those small areas where there wasn't any of the red fluid. She looked above her and saw she was right below a light. Then she saw that there were only five lights on the ceiling. They were about seven meters apart and between each patch of light was where shadows played. This left a pattern of light and darkness until it ended with the fifth and final patch of light, leaving the rest of the tunnel in pure darkness.

Samantha then heard the sound of a drip and the fifth light conformed to the darkness. Then she heard a drip for the second time and the forth light fell into the temptation of the darkness as well. This happened to the third and then the second light. Then Samantha felt something wet fall on her head. She placed her hand to feel what had just fallen on her. It was warm and thick, like heated custard. She put her in front of her face to see what has fallen from the ceiling.
It was blood.

Then the last light had fallen as well. Now darkness ruled. All that cut through the blackness was her bright red eyes.

Samantha looked down to her hands, even though she couldn't see them. She tried to summon light but it didn't work. She looked deeper, within the pits of her stomach to try to find light and bring outwards but she couldn't. Her powers had completely depleted.

Why can't I use my powers? She thought, does this place insulate magic?

Then she felt a cold coming towards her from the back. She rubbed her arms to create heat for warmth. She breathed out and even through the thick blackness of her surrounding; she could still see her breathe.

This frightened her. She again tried to summon light. She looked deeper and deeper within herself, but nothing. She knew she needed light... she needed heat, especially for what she dreaded was about to come.

Suddenly a speck of light appeared far into the distance. The light, although small, filled the room. Samantha- thinking it was the end of the tunnel- ran towards it.

She ran and ran to the light. However, it seemed as if the closer she got to the light, the further it moved away from her. Then she heard splashes coming from beneath her feet. She stopped. She remembered the blood dripping from the walls and she wondered... She slowly lifted up her foot and her sole was red.

She had stepped in blood.

She looked around herself and saw bones, decaying bodies, faces filled with fear. The calm bah-bum of her heart was now a car engine, racing. She then knew she had to run towards that light, or else some else will see her decaying body.

She lifted her left leg to then place on the ground to give her the push to run and pushed her right arm forward to balance herself.

But as soon as she did that, time had slowed down just for her.

She moved her body as if she was in slow motion yet the energy she had put into her body was enough to make pounce like a cheetah... but still nothing happened. Her body was being held back by a greater force.

Someone or something is slowing down time, she thought knowing that she couldn't counter it. Whoever was using this spell was far more powerful than her.

The only thing that was bound to normal time was her blood red eyes. They saw all that was happening around her. They saw the sluggish movements of her body. They saw her hand opening up to relax itself, as if to say that she surrenders. They saw the corpses... laying... still... dead; she knew that was now going to be her fate.

She looked forward towards the light... towards her freedom... freedom that she could practically taste. From behind, Samantha heard the growls of a dog, hungry for its food. She heard the slithers of a snake, coming closer and closer; the sound the serphant's pray hears before they die.

Samantha now knew she was in the presence of the Frost.

She felt the blood beneath her left foot, freezing over it. Then she felt a massive wave of cold air stabbing her in the back. The odd animal sounds came closer and closer. Then she felt something rubbing against her leg, like a cat leaning your leg as it passes... but not as warm. As soon as she felt the rubbing she then felt nothing, her feet were completely numb from the cold and the numbness rose up her legs.

It's here, she thought with great sorrow. She kept looking ahead at the light... telling herself that she will never see the outdoors ever again.

Then the Frost showed its hideous face. It had a tail used for travelling and for freezing its victims. It had two muscular arms; its nails looked like spears. It was blue with frosty patches covering its body. Its eyes... its horrendous eyes were filled with darkness, fear, melancholy, anger and it forced Samantha to look at them.

The numbness had risen up to her chest. She had to stare at the ice demon whilst it was taking her life away... slowly but not gently. Her eyes, her beautiful red eyes were filled with tears and pain. Then they became dull. They became lighter and lighter until they were pure. A tear was shed which froze right on her pale cheek. Then with her last icy breath... she froze.

And that's how the frost bites.
