Serena, Evelyn and Elias ran down the dark alley. The cold night air was burning in their lungs but all of them kept running. Running away from something. Then they turned left into an even darker alley but you could hear fast footsteps behind them.
"Faster!" screamed Elias. "They'll catch us!" They turned left again and faced a wall. "Shit! No!"
"We have to climb!" said Serena and tried to climb up the wall but failed. You could hear the footsteps again, the pursuers were almost there.
"Hide!" said Evelyn and climbed under a dustbin that stood nearby. Serena and Elias did the same and soon after the pursuers reached the alley but no one was there.
"They climbed over the wall." mumbled a deep, male voice. "We lost them."
"No, they're still here." said another voice. "You can't climb over that wall. Search everything! We need to find them!" Flashlights were turned on and lightened up the alley. But there were only a few dustbins and nothing else.
"Nothing. They're not here. May they went into a different alley?" But the other man saw a shadow under one of the dustbins and knew exactly what it was.
"Oh, they are." The man smirked and approached the dustbin under which Serena lied. He pushed the dustbin away and smiled bittersweetly.
"Hello, my dear." He grabbed Serena while his colleague, a smaller man, found Evelyn and Elias. They screamed and tried to get free, but nothing helped. Serena hit out in all directions and punched one of the men in his face. "Bad girl!" He turned his head to Serena and his red eyes were the only thing she saw.
"Please, just leave us alone!"
"You're the last ones."
"We know! We don't need anything from you! Please!"
"But we need something very important from you." The man said and they dragged the children into a black car, then they drove into the city.
---------
The ride in the car was silent.
"Why do you need us?" asked Elias and Evelyn glared at him. "What?"
"Don't talk with them! God knows what they'll do with us." One of the capturers chuckled.
"Don't worry, we won't kill you. We just deliver you."
"To whom?"
"To a special group of people."
"And then they kill us." said Evelyn.
"No, they need your help."
"Then they kill us after we've helped them."
They drove past huge buildings into the center of the city. It was 11pm and completely dark, lights were turned on behind the windows and the majority of vampires were now on their way to work, the streets were crowded.
"If you say so." The capturers didn't seem to care. The car stopped and the men dragged the children out of the car. Now they stood in front of a huge, modern skyscraper.
"I know where we are!" screamed Elias. "We're in Downtown! Man, I always wanted to see Downtown!"
"Oh please." moaned Serena. "Don't you realize how dangerous it is here? Downtown is full of vampires, they'll smell and kill us!"
"Don't worry guys, you're safe with us." said one of the men.
"Hahaha, funny." mumbled Evelyn nervously. They went inside the building and rode with the elevator to the top of it. They could see the whole city now and all of them had to admit that it was a beautiful sight. Each of them missed the old times, where the world belonged to the humans and everything had been perfect.
