Kairi and sora ended up on Destiny Islands with their friend Riku and they can't even remember how they got there.

Sora was having weird dreams and wasn't sure if it was real or not. They wanted to leave the world and go on a journey to other worlds, so they decided to build a raft.

The morning after they built the raft there was a storm occurring on the island which was strange because a storm has never happened on Destiny Islands. Sora soon woke up and noticed the storm, then left his room to go and look around.

Once sora had left his room he had been surrounded by the heartless and had to go and look for Riku and Kairi.
Sora couldn't find Kairi but then found Riku standing right under the portal to another world. Riku then told Sora "this is our chance to leave this island."
Sora then said "Wait we still have to find Kairi!" Riku then said she can take care of herself and find her way out."

Riku then held out his hand to Sora and said "C'mon, let's go Sora!"
Sora ran to Riku but then a portal of the darkness opened beneath them.
Sora struggled to reach Riku's hand and then we're both sucked into the darkness. But some how they were transported to different places, Unfortunately it was a mystery where Riku had been transported to.
Sora had been knocked out and woke up but was on the same island until he looked of the edge he realised the island was flying away up to the sky.
Once sora had turned around the king of the heartless was standing behind him, a giant black monster with a heart shaped hole on its chest. It soon attacks sora and they both battle and sora beats the king and takes the enormous heart that comes out of him. When he beat him a giant door appears. He was unaware that it was locked and the only way he could open it was from the dream he had when he had to pick a weapon and he chose the keyblade in his dream so then when sora walked over to the door the keyblade appears in his hand and he held it to the keyhole on the door and opened it.

As the door slowly opened,inside the door was just a very very bright light.
Sora slowly walked into the door and ends up in a new world called traverse town and is unaware that Donald and goofy are walking around looking for the key weilder (sora) but they don't know what sora looks like and finds it hard to find sora.
