"Seth, wake up" Mark whispered, covering Seth's mouth. "Don't speak be quite, i think something is wrong with mom. Seth looked at his brother. He was 18, heading off to college soon, which Seth and Mark hates because Seth and Mark have always been very close brothers. Mark was six foot two and played football in high school, he was strong, unlike Seth's brains. He had a buzz cut that helped make him look like a soldier, though he never considered joining the military. As Seth looked he noticed Mark was wearing the usual: tank top and camo pants. "Get up," Mark whispered. Listening to his older brother Seth stood up, for some reason he always wore his normal clothes to bed, never pjs. His usual outfit was a black "Nightmare Before Christmas" jacket that his mom had bought him at disney world, and blue jeans. "Follow me," Mark said waving his hand towards him as he walked into the hallway. As Seth entered the long upstairs hallway he could hear a strange sound. It sounded like mom when she got drunk and shuffled around braking stuff. Seth and Mark tiptoed down the stairs, being careful not to make the old wooden steps creak. As they got to the bottom Seth could see mom did look drunk, she was in her nightgown and had her back turned to the boys, shuffling around. As Seth stood on the last step he forgot to be careful and stepped wrong. The step made a loud creaking noise as Seth's neck hairs stood up. He didn't know why but he had a feeling he shouldn't have done that. As the creaking noise echoed to the kitchen the boys' mom stopped moving. She slowly turned towards them. (Oh my god!) Seth thought to himself as he saw the scariest thing he had ever seen. The boys' mom had fresh blood on he mouth dripping down her chin like when a sink faucet is barely on. Her clothes were torn exposing her rib cage that looked like it had been torn out. And her eyes were... Completely white. The woman started to shuffle towards Seth and Mark as they watched in horror. "Seth! Up the stairs go!" Mark yelled as Seth pulled his gaze from their bloody mother and hustled up the stairs. They ran into Marks room and shut the door, locking it.

"What was that?!" Seth said looking at Mark. "Whats wrong with mom?"

"I don't think thats mom anymore, I mean, you saw her!"

"What do we do?" He whispered. Just after Seth spoke the door shook. Their mom was against the door clawing and scratching at the wood as she made loud groaning noises.

"Grab the chair at the desk! Use it to block the door!" Mark ordered as he went to the bed and reached under it.

"Got it," Seth said as he put the top of the chair under the doorknob. As Mark took his hand out from under the bed he had a 9mm pistol. "You have a gun?!" Seth asked puzzled that his brother kept a gun under his bed.

"You never know when you will need it, burglars, or in this case zombies."

"You don't know shes a zombie, she could be sick or gotten a disease!"

"Bro look," Mark said putting his hand on his shoulder. "She has blood all over her, her eyes are white, and shes acting just like a zombie, i hate to tell you but i think the apocalypse is actually happening." Seth nodded with agreement. Although he couldn't believe it, he did. Seth always read about zombies in comic books, but never thought it could happen. Just then their mother's arm burst through the wood, her arm flailing everywhere knocked the chair down. The door swung open as the boys' mother stood there. "Theres nothing we can do for her, get behind me. Seth obeyed and stood behind his brother, closing his eyes. Mark took a deep breath, pointed the gun at his zombified mothers head, held back a tear, and squeezed the trigger. The bullet went straight through, causing their mom to fall to the ground, no longer a shambling corps, dead.
