The Little One

The new land we have found is called white light. Every building made here is constructed out of marble, quartz or limestone. The land is home to strange creatures that speak like humans and look like them but are much larger and have wings, almost like angels which is ironic really because they claim they are. The "angels" seem more and more like those that are in the ancient books called the bible, they worship a god and are a very proud and caring people, it strange though as they don't refer to their god as god at all, they refer to their god as "the little one".

After exploring White Light with my expedition group we found a very large cave entrance, there were angels wielding large swords and wore very thick and bulky armor with even larger shields standing at the very edge as if they were guarding something inside. Someone whispered into my ear

"we should try and have a look inside Aidan"

I looked over my shoulder to see who it was, it was my brother Dylan, and he was looking at me intently like a child who wanted more food. This was strange as nothing ever really interests him; it was as if something had come over him forcing him into the cave. I simply agreed and we all started moving towards the cave but before we even got ten metres to the entrance all of the armored angles flew towards us and blocked our path, all of them were looking at us very worriedly almost like they were scared of us entering, they begged us never to enter.

When night fell the angels gave us food and a place to stay for the night although Dylan did not seem to be happy with it, he would not pestering us about the cave and how important it was that we got in. Hayley the youngest of our group only 14 years of age was the first to say something.

"DYLAN! Stop annoying us about the stupid cave, the angels asked us to stay out so we will stay out. I'm pretty sure none of us want to be exiled from this land as well."

All of us were shocked, as Hayley was usually very timid and quiet, for her to bring up our exile is even stranger as she was affected the most out of all us of by it. Dylan stared at Hayley as if she had slapped him.

"I'm sorry I didn't know I was causing so much grief... I'm going to bed I suggest we all do."

Dylan laid down in his makeshift bedding and went to sleep, after a while everyone else did, Hayley slept as far away from Dylan as she could. I moved over her and whispered

"what's wrong? You usually don't act like that."

Hayley turned her head to face me

"I don't know, something just came over me, ever since we got here this morning everything has felt different."

"It's not just you its Dylan as well, he usually isn't interested by much other than magic."

Hayley looked as if she was fed up after my last comment.

"He's interested in a lot you just never pay enough attention to him."

Again it was strange for her to say that. I was starting to think something was changing Hayley, forcing her to do and say things she usually wouldn't.

"When we saw that cave what did you think Hayley?"

"I thought nothing of it at first but as we got closer I looked deeper inside and felt like going in there was a life and death situation, I held myself back after the angels came towards us though, I didn't want to anger them."

I knew for sure then that something was changing Hayley and Dylan and I knew it would start affecting the others soon. It was only a matter of time and whatever it was really wanted us in that cave. I opened my mouth to say something but Hayley had already fallen asleep. I laid back and slowly fell asleep, something was wrong though; I could feel it, like I was being watched. I realised I was dreaming soon after the feeling came on, I searched around for what was watching me. There was nothing, no walls, no sky, not even a floor just complete darkness everywhere.

The next morning I was awoken by Hayley shaking me and yelling at me to wake up with the look of dread on her face. After she realized I was awake she stopped and said

"Dylan's gone and we think he went into the cave."

I sprang to my feet looking around, everyone was awake and staring at me as if they were waiting for me to say something "Well we have to get in the somehow." Everyone suddenly got a look a anticipation on their face after about half an hour we finally came up with a plan to get past the angels guarding the entrance. Another two hours later we had finally snuck past the guards and gotten into the cave, something felt wrong about the cave like it was corrupted or that there was something extremely evil deep within but no one seemed to noticed.

Not to long after we had started searching the cave we found it was much larger than we originally thought, with parts of it spiraling around and others leading into large open chambers. We weren't inside for more than one hour until my mind started playing tricks on me, I kept thinking I saw a young girl everywhere. Soon after the same feeling I had in my dream came back only it wasn't as bad but over time I got paranoid and kept checking over my shoulder until my fear got the better of me, I turned to ask everyone else if they felt it as well but no one was there just a wall of stone. It was impossible that I could have been separated from everyone else, I began to panic, I ran blindly trying to find a part of the cave I recognized but all I accomplished was tiring myself out. After I caught my breath I looked around once more, finally something, there was a light out at the end of a tunnel, I didn't know if it was real or if my mind was playing tricks but I wanted out of this dreadful place. I ran harder than I ever had in my life.

As the light got larger I could tell it was real and that I was getting closer, but as I got closer the feeling of being watched got worse as if whatever it is was getting closer, I couldn't turn around not now, not when I was so close. I could see the outside now, it was White Light the buildings were unmistakable and the angels were there as well. When I made it to the entrance I leaped outside the cave and stumbled on my feet as I stopped. Even though I was outside it still felt like I was being watched. I looked around to see if the angels saw me. Not just some but all of them were looking my way, they all looked horrified like I just murdered someone. It took me awhile to realise it but they weren't looking at me at all they were all looking behind me at the cave, I turned to see what they were looking at. My body froze in terror when I saw it was the little girl from the cave standing just inside the cave entrance, she was covered in blood from head to toe. I tried to say something but I was to terrified to speak until one of the angel came forward and said fearfully "The Little One."
