Adam's POV

Nobody talked to Taylor. She wasn't one of the popular people. She seemed nice, but these days, being nice means nothing. I don't think being popular is important, but many people do. Although I'm on the school basketball team, I do it because I like it, not for the popularity.

It had been three weeks since the town heard the big news. Accidents happen all over the world, all the time. In our small town, they aren't very common. News like that spreads really fast.

No one reads the town paper. They send them to everyone's doors, weekly, but barely anyone reads it. Most people just go out and buy a paper. This is mainly because nothing interesting shows up in the town paper.

I still remember reading the article three weeks ago; it was probably one of the most shocking articles of my life.

Flashback

---------------------------------------------------

I had a great weekend. I went to what was supposed to be the best party of the year, but being me, I left half way through. I also left to chase after a certain blonde. It was the last week of school, before the summer. I was excited to say the least. Finally I got to get away from all my stupid teammates and annoying girls, who think that just because I'm somewhat popular, I would date them. Seriously, they think they're pretty because they put so much make up on, they look like clowns.

I walked downstairs. My mum was probably at work by now. My dad however was sitting at the table holding his usual morning paper. He goes to a store in the mornings just to buy a paper in the morning. However something caught my eye. He wasn't reading his usual paper.

"Good morning." I broke the silence. I began to make my breakfast.

He looked up and gave me a sad smile. Clearly something upset him, which was weird because he was the funniest person I knew; he was rarely serious or sad.

"Morning." He replied and put the paper down.

"Interesting story?"

"Yes. Front cover story, actually."

I caught a glimpse of the paper. I knew he was reading a different paper than usual, but I had no idea it was the town paper. It must be good if he was reading it, usually the majority of the paper was about our town festivals and events.

"I was going to throw the paper away, but I spotted this article. The whole town is reading about this story by now. Happened over the weekend."

"What happened?"

He began telling me. "Girl was found, probably coming back from a party. She was found near that playground you used to go to-"

"What time?" I interrupted.

"Around eleven." My face paled because I was there around that time.

"Anyway." He continued "She was rushed to hospital. Remember a decade ago?" I nodded "Similar accident. Poor family. I should pay George a visit."

" George? As in George Hunter, the guy you work with?"

All my father did was nod. If I wasn't sure of the idea before, I was sure at that moment. I though I should probably ask him, just to make sure, but it was like he read my mind.

"His daughter was the girl. I think she's in some of your classes."

I took the paper from the table, after finishing my breakfast and looked at the picture. I quickly read the article and looked back at the picture. I couldn't believe it. By the time they found her, she was unconscious. That means that the accident happened about five minutes or less after I spoke with her.
