~Katri's Journal~

Today is holds so much! A new year and a new day!! Last night was normal but something weird happened, I met a strange, kind man, he looked about my age, very caring, had the most beautiful hazel eyes, they had a vibe -if they are real- it was as if he could solve my inner most deep problems that no one can see and suspect, I hide it so well, but I felt like he could solve them! The only problem is his father, he is never home, and tries harming his sister Lily. I feel so bad for her and shes the most cutest sweetheart! I think it comes from her and Gareth's mother, she could care any frightened child.

~Gareth's Journal~

A new year today! I severely hope dad stops his addiction of alcohol, I told him to go to rehab and he said he would, but once again he came home early in the morning and I could smell the alcohol from my room. I wonder if he has another addiction that he is not telling us about, I hope not, but I can never trust him, never had. Anyways, I met a girl last night at a party in a huge mansion. Her father is a billionaire. She was so pretty, well I mean her personality but her body too. Oh and those eyes, so blue, its like staring into the heart of a storm, so beautiful! But I could see deep sorrows in her eyes, ever so deep. It was like she didn't want anyone to know, but it also look like...she was glad I noticed.

The day of the New Year's party

-A hour before the party-

Katri was in the shower quietly crying, her parents are almost never there, and never there for her. Take her last choir concert, her parents only came to pick her up to go home right at the end of her last solo, the end of the concert. Her last boyfriend tried to abuse her but luckly she had her pepper spray with her. Now single and alone in the world, she hopes to find the one tonight, hopes she doesn't have to take her loyal blade to her skin tonight like she does often. So many other students in her school bully her, so many negative thoughts and no one knows, they may suspect but not know.

She gets out of the shower, gets ready for the party. She thinks maybe she will be able to confrount her father that she self harms but doubts it. She throws on a pink dress, oh how it flauts her body! She walks out of her room, fakes a confident smile and walk. She continutes into the kitchen to grab something to eat before the party.

Gareth was getting his sister dressed, thinking of what tonight may bring to him and his family, well most of his family, not his father. His father was out at a bar tonight.

Gareth gets his sister some dinner then takes a shower. He lets his thoughts run, all of them, the negative and the positive. He thinks now his mom is taking care of Lily, now he can relax. He looks down to see his blade, still out from this morning, he panics. What if Lily saw it! What if his mom saw it too?! He quickly runs to the closet in the bathroom and slips, the blade embeds into his thigh. He lets out a scream and slides the blade in to his safe spot for it. Just then his mom opens the door and quickly grabs a washcloth with some hot water and a bandaid that would cover the gash.

"What happened, Gareth?" She sounds worried but calm.

"I slipped and my thigh hit the corner of the cabinet door." Gareth slightly tears up from the pain.

She starts to clean the cut.

"It doesn't look like you hit the cabinet door. What's the truth?" She looks into his eyes.
