Short End Of The Stick

"Attention!" Erwin shouted and the soldiers stiffened and saluted before standing at rest. Erwin looked over the list of who was still alive and nodded to himself.

"Today, is a special holiday. With everyone's help we have advanced this far, and so I have decided to let you all go home and celebrate this day with your family and friends"

The soldiers cheered and hugged each other in joy, Erwin cleared his throat and told them to listen.

"Those who do not have anywhere to go is always welcome here in the Survey Corps, later on, we will have our own celebration. Now, those who wish to join may stay, those who wish to leave may go" Erwin said

The crowd dispersed and cheered loudly until only a few were left. Mikasa, Eren, Jean, Sasha, Connie, Armin, Moblit, and Historia.

"Jean, aren't you going home?" Connie asked "Nah, I'd rather stay here then be with that old hag" Jean clicked his tongue "You should spend more time with her while she's still there" Eren said

"I would if she wasn't such a-" Jean stopped when he understood what Eren meant. He looked down on the ground and kicked off a pebble.

"Why the fuck are you all still here?" Levi asked, and Eren immediately stiffened "Well... We don't really mind, but come over to the stage, we're gonna pick a host for tonight" Levi turned his back and they followed him to the stage.

Erwin smiled at them and Hanji hovered behind him, her face filled with excitement, she pulled Moblit and whispered to him about what's going on loud and clear for everyone to hear.

"Whoever picks the short stick will host the party" "But why isn't Commander picking too?" Armin asked "If this guys hosted the party it won't be fun" Levi complained.

"I can hear you both" Erwin said "Only the superiors get to host the party, the rest of you will have to help the host plan the party" Erwin said.

Eren glanced at Levi, he was standing next to Hanji, they gasped as both of them began to pull the stick swiftly.

Hanji got the short one.

"Yahoooo!!! Alright!" She screamed in delight, Levi tossed his stick and walked a few paces away from them.

"Alright, Hanji is tonight's host. She will plan everything and I hope there won't be any complaints?" Erwin asked, they all hesitantly shook their heads.

"Hanji" Levi whispered "What is it Levi?" Hanji asked as she strained her ear to listen to him. "Make this memorable.... For all of them" he said "Roger that!" Hanji said and agressively patted him on the shoulder.
