Life Goes On

Chapter 2: "Paralyzed"

It was 6:00 AM when Catherine was having major difficulties getting out of bed, so when Dustin came in she made an excuse that she wouldn't be going to work. Once Dustin left Catherine flopped on the floor and crawled to reach the house phone to call her doctor since her phone was dead. Once she reached the phone, she pulled the cord and it dropped on the floor and she quickly dialed 9-1-1. Once she told them what was going on and the symptoms she was getting, they quickly dispatched an ambulance to her house, once they arrived there they picked her up and settled her in the back of the ambulance, and went off with screaming sirens. Catherine tried her best to get one of the doctors attention, she felt guilty and she wanted to call Dustin and tell him what was going on with her. But the doctors wouldn't give any attention up. Catherine then began to cry and mentally broken. Finally once they got to the hospital they asked if Catherine knew anyone that she thinks should come to see her. Then she grave them Dustin's number and they called him up and once he answered the phone the doctor spoke and said,

"Hello Mr. Peterson we have Catherine in the hospital, her legs... Became paralyzed last night. She began getting symptoms at the park as I was told by Catherine. She would like for you to come visit he-"

The doctor spoke but then he heard Dustin's sudden heavy breathing. The doctor questioned him and asked if he was okay. But then fasts pace footsteps were followed along with his breathing. The called unexpectedly ended and soon there was a knock at Catherines hospital room. Dustin came rushing in and he quickly grabbed Catherines hands and tears came streaming down his face. He kept repeating the words ' I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry'. He wouldn't stop apologizing to her. Then finally Catherine tried to sit up with all of her strength and she hugged him and said,

" You shouldn't be apologizing. I should've told you that i was getting symptoms."

Catherine dragged her hand against his hair and then after 30 minutes Dustin fell asleep, his head was rested on her lap. Catherine grinned but then the doctor interrupted and asked,

"Can you feel his head on your legs Catherine?"

She replied,

"No... I can't."

The doctor sighed at her response and said,

"Catherine... They're gone... Unless you could afford.."

Catherine interrupted not wanting to hear her options.

"I know Doc, okay.. So I'll be home soon correct?"

He then said in a harsh voice,

"Yes..."

Catherine put her hospital bed in a position where she was sitting up. She grazed his hair and started thinking about her options that she might chose. She then thought about how Dustin would feel about her options or opinions of what she thinks should happen. Catherine then fell asleep. In the morning Dustin finally woke up to Catherine staring outside the window. Then he poked her face, she whipped her head to him then smacked his finger before it touched her. Catherine then pulled out her phone then went on YouTube and started watching her favorite youtuber, Markiplier. Dustin began to catch interest on his Lets Play:Five Nights At Freddy's 4. A few hours past with them watching Mark, the doctor then came in and told them they were able to go home. Catherine was in a wheelchair and Dustin was pushing her in the ambulance to take her home. Once they got home, Dustin picked her up baby style and placed her on the bed so she could rest.

" You okay butt?"

He said as he held her hand, she then nodded in response and closed her eyes, hoping she would fall into a trance of sleep. Catherine sighed knowing she couldn't sleep after what just happened to her. She then glared at her legs and one tear ran down her cheek. Dustin placed his hand on her shoulder and said,

" Its okay... I'm here for you."

Dustin then put on one of Catherine's favorite songs,Fly Before You Fall, by Cynthia Erivo. They listen to the song together and they flipped through songs till Catherine fell asleep.
