PROLOGUE
As a child and most of her life, Bryne Hardon lived in a small in Pennsylvania. When she finished high school, she moved out to the big apple; New York City, to study journalism. She has lived there for two years. At the age of nine, she had lost one of her parents. Her father was murdered, and the killer was never found. The police disclosed the cause of death to the public and to the family of Magnus Hardon. Her mother started to fall apart gradually over the years, which caused Bryne to become more independent. As Bryne grew older, she became curious to how her father was murdered.
When Byrne first moved to New York, she met a guy named Ronnie Smith. He soon later became her boyfriend, her abusive boyfriend. When Bryne was moving out, she took a few of her dad's belongings. Magnus Hardon used to be a writer too, so she took some of his works. One of them was on the topic of the supernatural; vampires in particular. Her dad was a non believer of many things. So, if he believed in vampires, she thought there must be a reason why. Bryne looked up facts and stories about vampires. And she soon believed in them also.
Bryne became an expert on vampires within a few months of researching them. Her fascination with vampires caused her to become antisocial. She stopped going to her journalism classes, rarely showed up at work, and she barely left her apartment, which she shared with her boyfriend. What really got to her is that, there could be vampires anywhere. So, she started drinking vervain everyday and she even wore a hidden vervain bracelet on her ankle. She also had a few wooden stakes stocked in her apartment. Bryne's inference was that her father was killed by a vampire. And she made it her life's mission to find out who. The idea of becoming a vampire hunter surfaced her mind. But didn't know if she was ready to just throw away her education and life on hunting vampires for the rest of her existence. The more Bryne was on her laptop or reading books about the topic, her boyfriend Ronnie was getting angrier that she wasn't spending time with him. Ronnie's mom passed away from cancer recently. He started to drink a lot more and do drugs. He took his anger all out on Bryne, violently and aggressively.
One day when Bryne was on her laptop, she came across a vampire believer chat room. She was talking to a guy who had some useful information. He told her if she really wanted to learn more about vampires she should visit Mystic Falls, Virginia. He also told her that that place was crawling with vampires and all different kinds of supernatural creatures. Bryne definitely wanted to check it out, but she was warned to be careful. So within a few days, Bryne was heading down to Mystic Falls with Ronnie. She stayed in a small motel, she only planned to stay in Mystic Falls for a few weeks to a month.
When Bryne gets to Mystic Falls, she finds out what she needs to know - and more. She develops feelings for someone and doesn't even realize it. The big, bad vampire - Damon Salvatore. Their 'relationship' progresses slowly. Damon is trying to cope with the fact that the love of his life, is in a deep sleep, coma for sixty to seventy years. But somehow, Bryne and Damon have this special connection, they both haven't had with anyone else before.

Author's Note : Hi! This was the prologue, and I hope you are enjoying it so far. (I am) This story starts after Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries. To be exact, seven years later after, and Elena is still in a coma. Okay, so I was online one day. And I saw this AD for an audition and it read "Do YOU want to be the next Elena on The Vampire Diaries?" I thought "Hm, that'd be cool to write a story like that." So, that's how I got the idea.
