Chapter 3: Nostalgia
Her Majesty, the Queen felt enraged while at the same time as if she was being torn into two. Tears welled up in the corner of her eyes as she watched her other-half fall to the ground.
"DANTE!" She had to get to him. She had to use her powers to save him and worry about everything else later. She had to get out of this trap. The Queen clapped her hands together and pulled them apart. In a flash of light, a blade appeared in her hands. Tears streamed down her face as she swung the metal blade against the cage bars, destroying them immediately. When the cage was destroyed, Kairi stumbled and fell to his knee. "Father," Shoran gasped. He helped his father up and Kairi straightened himself. 'That blade. Mera seems to have gotten more powerful. She channaled her magic power through the blade and destroyed the unbreakable bars, made from my own magic power. I took some damage from that strike and will not be able to recover for a while.' He looked as Queen Mera kneeled by her husbands' body and ripped open his jacket. He felt great joy as he watched her tremble as she looked at the wound in her husbands' chest. He destroyed the man who took what was most precious from him. As he watched from Mera to the princess who was kneeling beside her mother, behind her father's limp body, his pride swelled even more as he watched the poor little princess try to hold back her tears. His mission was almost complete. With the death of the princess, the Sun Kingdom would be no more. All he had to do was destroy the only child that the King and Queen held so dear. He had played the outcome in his head. After loosing the two people she loved most in this world, Mera would be over taken with grief and sorrow. She would mourn their deaths to the extent where she would not be able to rule the country and Solaris would perish. Even if she did find a way out of her sorrow, she loved her husband, Dante, too much to marry another. So there would be no heir to the throne and the Kingdom would still fall. This was just too good to be true.
"Please, heal," the Queen pleaded as the warmth slowly left her husband's body. He was still alive. She could save him. She longed to feel his warmth embrace her again and refused to believe that the night before would be the last time he held her in his arms. "Don't leave me, my love." She held his head up on her lap as her hand tried to heal him by transmitting her magic to her palm to help the wound close. To no avail, blood, relentlessly, poured from the wound and her hands were covered in his crimson blood. The King watched, in his last few moments as his wife, unceasingly, cried over him.
Queen Mera gasped when she felt his hand touched hers on his chest. She looked at him. His hand reached up toward her face and touched her cheek. He wiped the tears from her right eye, feeling her tremble, uncontrollably. She was about to grab a hold of his hand when it slid off her face, smearing the blood from his hands on her cheeks. Her Highness struggled to catch her breath as she watched her beloved close his eyes slowly.
"No! No! Dante! Dante!" Her screams filled the room. The King saw nothing, but an endless pit of darkness. His wife's voice faded as he lost his hearing and could no longer feel her warm palm. His heart beat slowed down, and then. Stopped.Kairi and Shoran watched as the Queen cried out in anguish. The royal family felt despair but he was soaring through the sky. What he felt was absolute joy and victory. He laughed. "Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!" He looked up, with his arms wide open. "I did it!" His scream echoed through the main hall.
Sophia watched his pride and joy swell from their misery and her being overflowed with fury and hate. He was the man who took away her father. He was the reason why her mother's beautiful face was stained with makeup and tears. He was the reason for all of this. 'I'll make him pay!' She gritted her teeth, holding back her tears and anger. It felt like her teeth were going to shatter. It hurt like hell. "Shut your mouth!"
Kairi stopped laughing. He and his son, Shoran, looked toward the princess. "You are in the presence of Royalty. You will not speak unless spoken to." Out of anger, she forgot her training. Instead of holding the swords light enough to be able to move them with fluidity and grace--not too lightly that they would fly out of her hands-- she gripped the swords tightly that her knuckle turned white. Sophia looked up at him, teeth still gritted, eyebrows furrowed, eyes ablaze with anger and hatred. There was a light flame that was alive in her eyes that Kairi has never seen before. He was taken aback but quickly regained his composure. "It is not as if I was going to spare your life princess. You could have just waited for your turn because I wo-"
