Have you ever felt the need to simply dance? I have, after taking drugs and drinking alcohol. During those moments, you felt alive, colourful and full of energy. But then there's the waking up the next morning, wondering where you are and in which box you landed that time.
Being homeless was hard, I can tell you. Having to steal your food to survive and having the cops biting your ass to get off the park benches wasn't easy. You had to watch your back ALL the time. It was a world of 'everyone to themselves'. Sure, we had a few alliances, but trust wasn't something that ran around in our part of town.
Steven came back with dinner. As I could see, fruits and veggies were on the menu.
"Hey, Kelly, look what I got!" he yelled from his present position.
He was holding up a bottle containing transparent liquid. Not only was this alcohol, but it was the best: vodka.
I ran up to him, grabbed the bottle and cracked it open right away. I swung the bottle back and I felt the juice of heaven burn my throat as if it came from the fiery pits of hell. He smiled at me, taking into consideration that the face I made after my sip was a 'thank you'.
He put down the bag next to the group and everyone dug in. Everyone was famished and in need of energy. The drugs didn't always give us the amount we needed.
Steven pulled me up and dragged me away from the crowd.
"Hey! I was eating!" I stated loudly.
"Stop screaming! Be quiet about what I'm about to tell you, but I found a place for us to stay and it's going to lodge us for a month," he exclaimed.
"How? Where? When?" I was definitely confused.
"Too long to explain. Pack your bag we're going to Miami, right now."
He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the group. Damn, he was so pushy today.
You can say that Steven wasn't always the most pleasant person to be around. He could be arrogant, selfish and self-centered, but he did me a great favor. He saved my life. Anyways that's a story for another time.
Leaving the gang was hard, but it was for the best. I couldn't wait to get there and see what it looked like. I still had to figure out how he found this place.

The house was humongous. Not only was it a house, but it was a mansion, with plenty of valuable and expensive things.
The house was situated on top of a hill and the view of the ocean from up there was unbelievable. And the bed was so... FLUFFY! Nothing had felt this amazing before, but that was before I saw the bathroom, and the bath. The bath was the biggest one I had ever seen.
"So what so you think, Kelly?" Steven asked.
"This isn't fair! I feel like I'm intruding in their privacy," I said, worried.
"Think of this as we are borrowing their house and taking the things we need. It'll be the least of their worries when they realize that they were robbed. Didn't you realize that we are in a MANSION! Wake up call Kelly, we can be rich for one month!"
I smiled, happy, and went back to starring at the bath. It looked so inviting. I was so dirty that I felt like my skin couldn't breath.
"Go ahead." Steven said.
"What?"
"Take a bath. Relax, I'll go around the house and explore while you do so," he smiled and left.
Steven was so sweet sometimes, but in other times he was such an ass. He was my best friend and I was used to his bipolar moods. He was six feet tall and had dark brown hair. His hair got long and he had a thick beard as well but that was how I was used to seeing him.
I drew myself a bath and stepped in, savoring the welcoming warmth of the water. I submerged myself completely under the water and forgot about everything bad in my life, just the happy moments in mind. I washed myself with rose smelling shampoo and body wash. To have your body free of dirt was one thing, but finally feeling beautiful and smelling good was another.
When I got out, Steven was still exploring, probably trying to find food. I decided I was going to make myself look really pretty. Makeup, dress and fancy heels. The dress was strapless and black and the heels were black as well. I put a little black eyeliner and sat on the bed and waited for Steven to return.
I had taken the clothes from a closet in a room that contained pink walls and teddy bears all over the place. It was a dream teenage girl room. Something I never got.
I heard Steven coming back up the stairs and I couldn't wait for him to see me.
"Hey Kelly! Look what I foun-" he stopped talking and walking when he saw me.
"Wow... You're really beautiful."
I blushed a crazy red. I didn't take complements very well, and that was an example of exactly what I'm talking about.
"Well, I feel clean..." I said.
"You look clean as well," Steven said, looking amazing at my sudden make over.
"Well you have to do the same as me, take a bath and all." I smiled, walking out of the room, leaving Steven in awe.
