Silence, was present in the old dilapidated barn. The black stallion stood in the corner of the only stall staring at it's food bucket  in pure misery as the bullet that sliced through the air from a gun produced a rather large whole causing his food to waste.

Melancholy washed over it as he moved his gaze over to the small girl whose body laid sprawled on the creaky wooden floors.  Her blonde hair in a heap working as a carpet, her eyelids shut tightly protecting her ocean blue orbs, her scrawny tiny hands now red from the impact they made with the ground.

Was she dead? The beast's heart thudded violently, as he neighed silently hoping to get her attention. Nothing. Dread washed over his body. NO his master, his best friend couldn't be gone. She was the only one who believed in him. He was just a babe when Ole Man Parker ran over his back legs with his rusty pick up. The vet in town said that he would never be able to walk again and it was no use having him.

" That ol' stallion ain' nothin' but a waste er  money Bart.", is what his former master's wife told him. With all the pressure he was getting from his wife to get rid of the paralyzed horse, Bart finally gave up and sold him to the young farmer who had just recently moved into the small town of Riverview, Georgia with his wife and three year old daughter, for about forty  bucks.
Good old Bart thought the man was a fool for even paying for thing.
But what the ton folks weren't expecting was for the horse to become the most beautiful, strong and most fiercest stallion  Riverview has ever seen. After all the pain of therapy he went through the stallion stood tall and proud of his success. When it got to painful to bear the little girl was right by his side cheering him on to fight the good fight and finish the race.
Now here he stands three years later, looking at her body in hopes that she will arise. With much confidence the horse grunted and nayed as if his life the depended upon it. The loud noise jolted a movement from the girl. Relief flooded through him as her limbs began move and her eyes opened with alert.
