Beautiful Scars

Little girl only thirteen years old
Still sees the monsters that fill her with fear
Don't try to tell her monsters aren't real
She sees them everyday
Everyday they point out her flaws
Like she doesn't already see them
Like she doesn't already hate herself
They are slowly killing her with their words sharp as claws
And isn't it it sad that that she would rather be dead
Than face the devils that beat her with words
Her mind repeats every word they've ever said
It's too late to save her, she's already been cursed
She would rather die than wake up every morning again and again
And visit this hell that she's forced to attend
She's broken not bent
And no one can save her
Because she will never forget
Those words that plagued her
She will spend forever trying to fix things that don't need fixing
Her fragile heart constantly bending and breaking
They act like they don't see the tears in her eyes
Pretend they don't hear the truth in her lies
They act like they don't recognize
The tremble in her voice when she says that she's fine
She's not fine, she's dying!
Even with scars covering her wrists
She's still beautiful
No one ever thought to tell her
She's still beautiful
So she cuts deeper and deeper
Screaming because no one can hear her
And she'll die tonight
With the demon's words in her mind
Saying she'll never be enough
So she believes that she will never be enough
And she'll never understand what she did wrong
Because she never did anything wrong
And it was those beasts that were wrong
Those filthy pieces of scum
That set her on fire just to watch her burn
But she'll burn out tonight
With not even a goodbye
Because who would she say goodbye to?
Her parents don't care, they let the monsters get her
What friends does she have? They didn't save her
And no one will ever know
Exactly why she flew away
Because those monsters will be ashamed and run away
Too afraid to let people know
And they should be ashamed
It was them who murdered that little girl
Their words were the knives that cut her skin
Their insults were words written in pen
They can't be erased
No apology could ever set this right
And all of this darkness will consume the light
The world is left in a constant night
The mighty sun lost this time
The stars don't shine as bright
They don't deserve to shine
They couldn't save that little girl
And she'll never go down in history
Cause no one will ever care about her horror story
People would rather read tales of sickening monsters
That somehow earn happy ever afters
Than a tragic story of a beautiful girl
That will never know she's beautiful
And looking outside
I see the city isn't quite as bright
Now that she's given up the fight
And now people will learn that words are unchangeable
Now that the world is left with one less angel
But I know that she's happier and no longer alone
Because now her pain is over, and my angel is finally home
