Chapter 1: The Introduction

~*My name is Reena Averen and this is my story*~
It had all started when I was only 8 years old. I was living a good happy life with my parents (like most kids my age) as an only child. We were at the park and my mom told me that since we were there for nearly half an hour it was time to go.
"But mommy can't we stay a little longer? I never got to swing on the swings!"
" Alright Ree, but only 15 minutes okay?"
"Okay thanks I love you bye"
I ran straight for the swings and sat on one before anyone else could. Just as I got up really high on the swings I could faintly hear my mother shouting something, something that was really hard to understand. So I stopped my swing so instead of hearing wind I would better hear what she said. When I did I realized she was telling me to run and find safety in the next town over. That was followed by a strange sound resembling that of a dog sniffing the ground but louder. I then saw the reason my mom told me to run and find safety: giant dogs not normal ones though. They looked like something of a nightmare with giant jaws with teeth not fitting inside of their mouths, they looked like they had neither fur/hair nor skin as if they were turned inside out. Even worse was there had been about 6 or 7 of them and they all seemed ready to kill everyone in the park. 'Maybe I should have taken her up on that run to safety offer' I think to myself and begin to turn and run when I heard a familiar voice of a man saying, " I wouldn't do that if I were you Reena." looking over my shoulder I could see my mom being tightly held by my dad who was holding a jagged dagger to her throat. I was confused by this and a little scared too. "Daddy what are you doing to Mommy?!? She can get hurt really badly or die!"
"I'm not your father in case you haven't noticed. Your father is over there." he said in a bored tone pointing over his shoulder to a man lying on the ground face up with a blood caked face and neck and the handle of a dagger embedded in his chest. I ran to his side and checked his pulse ( my mom was a nurse and she taught me how to do this and other things at a young age) after realizing that he had been brutally killed I pulled the dagger out of his chest closed his eyes and put both hand crossed in the middle of his chest. Then I got up taking the dagger in my hand and began to walk over to this strange man who was now laughing like a maniac. "You sir are a very mean man indeed." I say to him before spitting on his feet. "Tsk tsk. You really should have taken your mothers advice while you had the chance." he then slit her throat before advancing on me. Still I held my ground and when he was about a foot away I threw my dagger aiming for his stomach and ran. I ran past the demonic dogs and continued on until my feet and legs screamed for a break. I took shelter for the night in an abandoned cave.
By the time I woke back up I realized how hungry I was. Since I had a photographic memory I remembered how far it was until I reached the next town which was only 5 minutes away. "I guess it's time to get started with this walk then" I mutter before getting up and started to walk.
~* 5 minutes later ~*
I emerged through the last of the trees and came face to face with a fence which had been the only thing separating me and what looked like the side of a blue ice-cream shop. Doing the sensible thing I climbed the fence and ran straight for the shop slowing down as i came around the side and tried to look more presentable than a dirty 8 year old that looked homeless. Then I walked inside making a little bell jingle. Passing a group of 3 teenage boys and 3 girls I walked up to the blonde lady behind the counter and asked for my favorite ice-cream flavor: cookies and crème with sprinkles.
