Edited:

Alright, so it's no secret that I didn't like To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han. I still ADORE Jenny Han. Her "The Summer I Turned Pretty" series is phenomenal! You have to read it if you haven't.

Anyway, even though I didn't enjoy To All The Boys I've Loved Before, I still decided to give the second one a shot, since Jenny Han is exceptionally talented. Maybe this one would be better?

Thankfully, it was. And it wasn't. Simultaneously.

PROS

My main complaint about the first book was that it was...boring. Really boring. The second book, however, made me care a lot more about Lara Jean, Kitty and Peter. I was actually excited and invested in the plot and immersed in the storyline a lot more :) I started rooting for Lara Jean and Peter like NOBODY'S BUSINESS. Those two are seriously cute. I mean, I liked them in the first book, but in the second one they finally stop acting like idiots and get together! XD <3

I forgot to mention in the earlier review that I love the diversity in this series. Young Adult fiction is really becoming open to protagonists that are not always Caucasian and I. FREAKING. LOVE. IT. In this book, we got to learn a little bit about Korean Culture and the Chinese New Year, etc. It was great to see a passionate interracial relationship between Lara Jean and Peter K.

Lara Jean's character was a lot more grown up and mature in this book. She was way more likeable, even though she'll probably always be a little naive and clueless when it comes to romance/love.

Love Triangle. I usually like these in YA fiction. I loved the storyline that John was a past love of Lara Jean and that he wrote her back :) His character was clearly a distraction, only meant to add some sort of dimension to Lara and Peter's relationship. Even so, I think he was a sweet guy ;)

CONS

Less Peter. I was so grateful whenever Peter was around. But unfortunately, a lot less of this book focuses on him than To All The Boys I've Loved Before.

Welp, that's it. I don't really love this series that much, unfortunately. The second one was definitely better than the first though, IMO

A lot of people absolutely love this series though, so if you'd like to read it, here's the Goodreads synopsis:

Lara Jean didn't expect to really fall for Peter.
She and Peter were just pretending. Except suddenly they weren't. Now Lara Jean is more confused than ever.
When another boy from her past returns to her life, Lara Jean's feelings for him return too. Can a girl be in love with two boys at once?

In this charming and heartfelt sequel to the New York Timesbestseller To All the Boys I've Loved Before, we see first love through the eyes of the unforgettable Lara Jean. Love is never easy, but maybe that's part of what makes it so amazing.

What did you guys think?? Let me know in the comments!XD
