Harry’s POV
Riley was drunk. That much was obvious as she lumbered onto the dance floor, a slap happy grin plastered on her sweaty face. It was hard not to chuckle at her jerky movements, dancing clearly something she was too inexperienced at to embarrass herself when she was coherent much less blasted. But she seemed like she was having the time of her life as she twirled around to the pounding music and bright blinking lights. People cheered and laughed drunkenly at her, raising their glasses to the wild girl. She grinned hugely and I watched as her shoulders shook with laughter. Makes you wonder if this she ever leaves the house.
I took a long pull on my beer, eyeing Riley as she walked towards where I was seated at the bar a devilish grin on her face. I was having a strong premonition that maybe taking her here wasn’t such a good idea in the first place, or maybe urging her to take another round of shots was one either. But the temptation of seeing Riley, always so uptight and with a scowl on her face wasted was too priceless to hand over. I just had to see her take one more sip. And it’s proved its worth. Riley staggered over to me, giggling a bit as some of her alcohol slipped from its plastic container. It dribbled down her hand while she absent mindedly wiped it on her shirt.
“Harry! Dance with me!” She cries over dramatically recovering from her spill. Riley was beyond gone and would certainly be feeling it in the morning that’s for sure. I cringe at the pounding headache she would be greeted with when she woke.
“We should probably get you home, Riley.” I tell her softly. Judging by the number of cups she’s chugged throughout the night Riley’s had far too much to drink. Enough to make this whole evening one foggy dream. She tilts her head, her gray eyes going wide with a pout.
“But… I want to dance.”
I chuckle shaking my head.
“Please. Oh, just one dance Harry!” She whimpers, batting her eyelashes. She stands up on her tiptoes, resting her clammy hands on my thighs so she can lean up towards my face. She sighs, her breath warming my cheeks. I’m a bit taken back by the suggestive gesture, especially it coming from Riley. The girl who refuses to even touch me but, then again alcohol does funny things. I lean back slightly not wanting to exude the wrong idea.
“You’ve been dancing all night aren’t you tired?” I ask, trying to swallow my laughter. Riley shakes her head, eyes still wider than ever.
“Well I am. C’mon. I’m taking you home.”
“Harry-” She gripes. I grasp her hand, standing up slowly before emerging into the crowd, tugging Riley along without further complaints. I could feel her straining behind me, discomfort seeping out of her hand in the form of sweat. I glanced behind me. Riley seemed lost in her own confusion. Something obviously was trying to tell her to pull away from me, a snide remark as her ricochet. But she couldn’t find the reason the alcohol barricading any reasonable thoughts she would typically have. It was almost nice, not to have her bickering and squabbling. But her toddler actions were much worse.
I found myself dragging her away from the dance floor more times than I could count. And she was quiet strong. We struggled along through the drunken mass of people finally breaching the suffocating swarm after what seemed like hours.
The air is cooler outside the pulsating club and I welcome it. The breeze ruffles at Riley’s unruly hair and she blinks blearily at it a contented sigh escaping her lips. But we don’t relish it for long. We cant. There’s bound to be paparazzi snooping around here somewhere. And I’d hate to be featured on the front page of some magazine hauling around an incoherent girl. I was grateful only minimum fans showed up tonight. And they were placed at the front entrance of the club, awaiting the other lads to saunter out. And I suppose myself as well, but I had some other matters that needed taking care of. And that was Riley. Someone whom I wasn’t going to leave alone especially in her state.
