The Poison of Hate
Hatred burns inside of me
Eating me up inside and out
Like some infernal disease
When I think of her I taste hatred
Acidic, metallic
I feel light-headed
I ball my small fists
Nails digging into the soft flesh of my palm
Drawing blood.

A Vortex of Mosquitoes
Thoughts swarm like mosquitoes
Vicious, malicious, bearing down on me
Seemingly determined to block my view of everything good
As horse blinders are wont to do
A well
An endless, bottomless pit of nothingness
Where I am aware solely of
My own meager thoughts and sad recollections.

Sunken Eyes
Brown blobs could be seen through the thick tracery
Of spider-like veins encompassed in her
Red, weepy, sunken eyes
Frosted over in old age
Her eyes were an unusual muddy green-brown
Reminiscent of fall leaves littering the forest floor
Above her eyes
A jagged cliff of a brow rose suddenly, without warning
Yellow sweat traced numerous paths lazily down her wizened face
Beading her the gray parchment that was her face randomly
As if for some crude decoration.
