If he has green eyes, that would be fine. Or brown hair, that's quite alright. Now six foot two is my favorite height, but Lord, I don't care.
How? That was her question. How had she possibly fallen for the man that was not at all what she'd dreamed?
Before, she had a tendency to flirt with blondes. Blonde men just seemed to be more attractive, more willing to...have some fun. And she also wanted her dream man to be tall - 6'5" at the least.
She loved blue eyes. Who could dislike them? She stopped considering a guy if his eyes weren't blue. There was a beauty, a depth to them. Vicki huffed into her hand.
This man, this Prince Charming followed none of the criteria she had once subconsciously set, despite her also subconscious nickname. After all, Judd had brown hair that could pass for black in certain light. Brown is the precise opposite of blonde. And yet, she still found him handsome.
Judd had green eyes, but not the piercing emerald green she had. No, his eyes were more dull, the color of the sea. And sometimes, when they made eye contact, Vicki felt as if she were staring into the sea. Depth and perception, free, mysteriously wonderful, stormy even. And his eyes just so perfectly fit Judd more than regular blue eyes could, because he was. He was secretive, perceptive, mysteriously wonderful, and all of that created a storm.
Vicki loved it.
And in comparison to her set height, Judd was short...er. He (at the moment) stood ten inches above her at 6'2". During their tiffs, Vicki often had to stand on her tiptoes so he would literally not look down at her. Vicki was glad that he wasn't taller than he was.
As Judd sat at his desk, furiously writing his essay, she prayed.
God, I know I thought I would fall in love with a blonde-haired, blue-eyed man who was 6'5".
She watched as Judd rubbed his forehead with his free hand and looked at his computer research.
But, God, you didn't let that happen.
Judd coughed and drank some of his coffee.
I fell in love with a young brown-haired, green-eyed man who stands at 6'2".
Judd put down his pen and looked up, rubbing his hand. "Mind if I join you, Vick?"
Vicki shook her head. "Not at all." She scooted to make room for him and patted the spot next to her. "Come sit."
Judd sat next to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder before kissing her temple.
With a small smile, Vicki finished her prayer. And I thank you for that, God.
