Hi guys! This is my first fanfic ever so please don't judge too harshly. I've had the idea for this story floating around in my head for quite awhile now so I'm so happy to finally be writing (or should I say typing) it down. Please comment your feedback, that would be really helpful. I hope you have just as much fun reading it as i am having writing it.
Anyway without further ado, let the story commence!I open my eyes drowsily and glare at my blaring alarm clock, wincing at the bright light streaming through the crack in my curtains.
I let out an annoyed sigh and mutter I something unintelligent.
After heaving my self out of bed I trudge towards my old mahogany closet. It's my 16th birthday today. I don't feel 16, in fact I feel the same as I felt when I was 12.
As I dress my mind roams to what excruciatingly boring tasks are on the agenda for today, maybe my mum will cut me some slack and give me the day off.
I look into the full length mirror situated in the corner of my room as I fasten my weapons belt around my skinny waist. My mother gave me that mirror for my ninth birthday. I was shocked at the time as I had never received something quite like it, usually I get weapons and books.
My messy blonde hair is pulled back into a ponytail and my bluey green eyes seem a shade lighter in the morning light, but that isn't what I am staring at.
I am staring at the long scar across my collarbone semi covered by the neck line of my black cotton shirt.I was five at the time of the demon attack. Mother said it will fade with time.
I trudge down stairs and into the kitchen, my gaze automatically resting on the high cupboard above the fridge.I was never allowed to open that cupboard and every time I tried I was always caught. It was like mum had a built in detector or something.
I glance at the bench, sitting on it is a messily written message on a piece of torn paper, I grab the note and read it.
Trin,
Duty calls down town, a demon attack.
I'll be back soon.
Happy birthday honey! I'm so sorry I couldn't be for when you wake up.
Your time table is on the back.
I now grant you permission to open the high cupboard. It's content is yours. Think of it as a birthday present.
Oh and by the way don't come looking for me.
Sorry honey, be back soon.Love mum
I stare down at the note then flip it over and gaze at my time table. Mum always gives me a time table for every day. She says I need to train but seriously, every day? Even on my birthday?
She tells me I need to be ready but never tells me why.
I sigh as my eyes glide over the list of painfully boring tasks.8:00-8:20 breakfast
8:20-9:00 demonology
9:00-10:00 knife throwing
10:00-10:45 geography
10:45-11:00 morning tea break
11:00-11:50 archery
11:50-12:45 flips
12:45-1:45 lunch break
1:45-2:30 shadow hunter politics
2:30-3:35 runesI groan in frustration. Shadow hunter politics, would it kill her to leave that one out?
I've been training for what feels like most of my life and I'm sick to death of it, I should be allowed to go fight alongside my mother. Not stay home like a child and follow a bloody schedule.
I reach over, grab a stool and stand on it heaving open the high cupboard that feels like it hasn't been touched in decades.
A gasp escapes my lips as my eyes fix on the object before me.
