Usually when a story takes starts it starts exactly when the events take place... but not this one. This one takes place long before and after the two events happen. This story starts with me... how I became the person I became four years later. But I wasn't the person who caused these events to happen... I don't think any of us wanted this to happen, but it did and I'm kind of glad it did. If they didn't happen I wouldn't know who I am now, I would be as clueless as any other mortal.
But right now I will clear up that night that ruined everything for me... when my best friend disappeared. I remember the whole night...and I don't think I will ever forget.
Three years ago- Mia's POV
"Mia...?" Melody shook me awake. I slowly opened my eyes to see her waiting patiently for me to answer. That was a quality I always liked in her... she was always patient, however I was so inpatient.
"What time is it?" I asked groggily, her dark orange hair was pulled up in a high bun on top of her head. She was wearing her outing clothes, the ones she picked for when she left on her journey. Looking at her reminded me of our mom... but she's gone. She just left...
"Three." She said quite joyfully, her smile was all the was up to her pretty green eyes.
"In the morning... oh my Arceus Melody!" I snapped sitting up. She rolled her eyes and pulled out of her yellow bag two pokeballs. One was black and had a white rose on it and the other was dark blue with a sun on it.
"This one's mine." She said indicating towards the sun one, but the rose one she sat next to me.
"And this one's yours." She whispered looking down on it. All I could feel was pure joy. A Pokemon for me?
"When you get better I want you to come with me... but I have to go tonight... Mia I want you to meet me at-" She stopped mid-sentence, her green eyes got wide as we heard footsteps down the hallway. Melody swiftly grabbed her Pokeball and shoved it in her pocket. She then snatched mine and set it on our desk with a note.
"Mia, Melody are you awake?!" My father yelled stomping down to our room. His footsteps were like earthquakes shaking the whole house with each step.
"Melody wait!" I cried getting up quickly and scurrying to grab my bag. But before I knew it she was out the window, with no trace. As quick as she disappeared my father slammed my door open, his fat face red out of anger. His beady eyes looked at me, the open window, then Melody's bed.
"Where's your sister?" He yelled at me, I began to shake with fear. His heavy breathing could be heard across the room. If you knew my father you would know he was a scary man when you angered him. Melody and I would know first hand, we were his personnel punching bags. Especially when he was drunk.
" don't know." I lied looking down at the floor. His eyes widened out of anger, then he growled like a wild animal.
"Mia Alicia Quartz tell me where she is!" He screeched like a child not getting his way, he then began stomping towards me. My bedroom wasn't that big so I counted... 5 measly steps that once seperated us were now gone. My eyes fell upon my Pokeball, I could release the Pokemon and it could help me. But 2 steps away from me he stopped dead in his tracks and grabbed the Pokeball.
"Where did you get this?" He asked a little less angry now, most of it was replaced by curiosity. That's how my father is, he can be pissed at one moment then happy the net, Melody said he's bipolar. My eyes darted to the floor.
"I found it on the desk when I woke up." I lied avoiding eye contact with my so called father. He looked down at it and spun around to leave.
"But that's mine!" I said going after him, a choice I quickly regretted. Without warning he spun around and slapped me hard. This time he put effort into it, so it hurt more than usual, the stinging was soon replaced with a throbbing sensation in my jaw.
As soon as he shut the door behind him I jumped to the window. It wasn't that far down and there was snow. Following Melody would be stupid since I had no Pokemon but I still looked. Sneaking away like this was something we always did, you had to know that if you wanted to live in my house. But as soon as I hit the ground I regretted it, the air took my breath away and the snow froze my bare legs. I tried to ignore it an started to sprint north. As soon as I got to the main square my lungs were burning and my feet were practically frozen... Maybe wearing shoes would've been a good idea.
"Melody!?" I yelled as loud as I could, but all that came out was a quite gargle. She was gone and I knew it. She was quick and was probably on her way to Floccesy Town already. My head began filling itself with so many thoughts it was so hard to do anything, then I collapsed. After about a minute of silence I heard footsteps... Melody? But it wasn't hers these were too heavy to be hers.
"Melody!" i heard Hugh yell as he started running towards me. That's all that happened before I fainted.
The next morning I woke up in Hugh's house yet again. I also heard that nigh my father threw my Pokeball off of Aspertia's lookout. Hoping he broke it. But after about a week Melody was reported missing, then after five months she was pronounced dead. Which was something I didn't never ever wanted to believe... she was just the girl who ran away from her troubles.
