Chapter 17 Alisha

"What are you doing today?" An all too familiar voice sounded behind me, laughter dancing in his voice.

"Nothing, if I'm going to be honest." I turned and studied Lucas as he stepped forward, slipping his hands around my waist and pressing me against the counters.

"Well, then why don't we go out somewhere?" He mumbled before pressing his lips against mine, his hands sliding behind my back and pulling me closer.

"What did you have in mind?" I questioned, sliding my arms around his neck and looking up into his eyes.

I couldn't help myself, I wanted this and I enjoyed it far too much. But now, now I was stuck here, wanting to love, but fighting it. And losing. Ever since I broke to him, ever since I told him, I couldn't turn away. I couldn't hide my feelings. It was like he had broken down the walls that I had built to keep him and everyone else out. Like he had found the crack inside of me and crawled inside. There wasn't a wall, not with him. Not anymore and that terrified me.

"There's a fair in the next town over. They have a petting zoo." His eyes twinkled slightly as he stared down at me, amusement filled his eyes as he waited for me.

"And what makes you think I still enjoy petting zoos?" I demanded.

"Because I know you still love cute and fluffy babies." Lucas snorted slightly when my cheeks flushed slightly and I turned my head to the side, trying to hide my face with my hair. "And what about those funnel cakes? Do you still love those?"

"You're evil." I grumbled and he laughed loudly before pressing his lips against my forehead.

"The fact I can still get to you..." He trailed off, his eyes dancing with laughter as I glared up at him and stuck my tongue out at him. "Shall we leave in an hour?"

"Since I can't say no." I pouted slightly as he smiled.

"Well you can, I won't stop you."

"You'll just sweet talk me to say yes." I challenged him and he snorted softly before nodding with a cocky grin.

"Yes, yes I would."

Crowds of people walked back and forth, children holding their parents' hands, teenages standing around in groups eating cotton candy and hot dogs, and lines of people before each of the rides. Lucas's hand slid its way into mine, clinging to it softly as we stepped up towards the ticket booth, waiting for the man to see us. My left hand fell towards my purse as I shuffled around for my wallet.

"How may I help you?" The man's voice demanded in a monotone voice, his eyes filled with boredom and exhaustion.

"Can I get thirty dollars' worth of tickets?" Lucas questioned as he handed the man some money. "I think that'll be enough to start with, eh?"

"I can buy my own tickets, you know?" I told him as I waved my wallet in front of his face. He shrugged slightly as he took a handful of tickets from the man before walking away, dragging me behind him.

"Where's the fun in letting you pay when I have money burning in my pocket?" Lucas chuckled, his hand squeezing mine gently.

"And what if I have money burning in my pocket?" I challenged playfully as we stepped up to the Ferris Wheel, him handing the women tickets.

"Then you can buy the snacks." He winked mischievously as I stepped inside and him following closely behind.

"Why do you enjoy irritating me?" I questioned as I stared at him as he sat across from me.

"Other than it's fun?"

"Yes." I bit back a smile which I knew he could see as he leaned forward, his hand wrapping around mine once more.

"Next week, a few of my friends and I are planning on going bowling. Why don't you come with us?"

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to involve me in your daily life." I leaned forward, staring into his eyes.

"Well, I haven't asked you to help round up the cattle yet." He chuckled as I rolled my eyes, laughter shaking his shoulders. "I'd love to see you try to though."

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

"I could see you and Snow riding off." Lucas grinned.

"I'd deny, but then I'd be lying." I giggled softly as I leaned back, my eyes shooting over towards the scenery below, the hundreds of people walking around below. "I'd love to go."

"Excellent. Then let the night begin."
