Mason was the one who showed me to my room.

So,” he sighed, “how do you like it?

Like it? I love it!

My suite was smaller than any of the other rooms I’d seen in the mansion, but was still quite spacious. The walls were painted a beautiful shade of lilac, and the carpeted floors looked as if they had recently been vacuumed. The entire room was dominated by an enormous canopy bed.

It’s getting late,” Mason said, and turned around.

I watched as he walked back down the hallway. “Wait! Mason! Do you know why I’m here?!”, I called, my voice echoing off the walls.

Mason didn’t look back, but he answered in a clear voice, "Yes."

"Why?"

I can't tell you, yet. But I must ask, do you believe in what you cannot see?

I.. What? What does that mean?”, I asked, confused.

But he was already gone.

I couldn’t see anything.

It was far too dark.

I had been running.

Running from someone.. Or something.

My breathing came out in ragged gasps, as I listened to the still silence around me.

The voice recited the lines again.

Gasping for air as her heart is smothered in darkness,

She must remember that not everyone is harmless.

For all she remembers is the warmth of his lies;

It’s not just her death that is coming,

But the one with the green eyes.

I shivered before spinning around, my eyes peering into the darkness as the voice continued.

Cold with the things that she does not know,

It is not only danger that will begin to show.

She is afraid of what she might become,

Now it is her fear that must be overcome.

Death. Death. Death. Death.

It has only just begun.

I awoke with a start, trying to catch my breath. I could hear the distant drum of the rain outside. I fell back on the bed, with a sigh. My head was throbbing, and the faint memories of my dream still continued to haunt me.

Finally, I managed to stumble out of bed. I rubbed at my eyes and sleepily walked into the bathroom across the hall.

The bathroom was huge -- a large room that was almost entirely made out of black marble, including the bathtub. I turned the water on, waiting as it slowly heated up. I stripped down and stepped in. The water soothed my sore muscles, and I sighed in relief. I reached for the collection of bottles, randomly grabbing one. I took a quick look, saw it was shampoo and lathered it onto my hair. I took my time, letting the water wash over me as I relaxed and tried to forget about my dream.
