"Alright kids, come gather around the mirror," I had just finished a bit of a cool down with the kids and we were now stretching for a bit before the parents got here. "Wow Jimmie, you're getting more flexible every time I see you," Jimmie was one of the two boys in this class. The other boy, Nathan, had been absent today. The parents soon began to arrive and pick up their children until it was only me left in the studio.
I turned on my music and began to dance. I hadn't planned anything so I ended up improvising my dance, adding in a bit of contemporary dance to the ballet. I felt free, expressive, and vulnerable in that moment. I forgot about my past, disengaged from the future, and was only in that moment. At the end I was exhausted, but it was worth it to have those few moments of peace. I looked at the time and began rushing to get home. I was running a bit late and I knew that Nara, who lived in the apartment across from mine, always worried about me after what happened. They were painful memories but they were a part of me, a part that I had to accept.
Nara's phone rang a few times before she picked up, "Hey girly, where are you?" she didn't seem too worried yet, which was good.
"I am still at the dance studio and I wanted to tell you that I am going to be a bit late. I got caught up in dancing again and am just leaving now," I said while packing my dance bag and grabbing my keys.
"Alright, thanks for letting me know. Oh, by the way, I invited Rose to join our movie night on Saturday if she wasn't busy," my friend quickly added before hanging up, giving me no time to reply or protest.
Sighing, I rushed out the door, locking it behind me, and turned to get on my bike. It felt like I was being watched as I got on my bike, but I couldn't see anyone around. I shook off the feeling and drove away.
"Yo Nara, I'm home," I yelled quietly as I opened my apartment door. I knew she would be at my place since she almost always is. I owned my own apartment since I was 16 and I have been living on my own since then. My father had died when I was ten and my mother stopped caring about me after I almost went to jail. I was only 15 at the time and luckily I had a good lawyer so I got off almost scot free.
"Girl, you spaced out again. What are you thinking about?" Nara gave me a worried look then sat us both down on the couch.
"I was just thinking of my parents again, nothing too painful so don't worry," even as I said this, I knew she would worry.
"Lets just get some sleep, okay? It'll all be better in the morning," she started leading me up the stairs as if I was a small child.
I stopped and gave her a look before saying, "Seriously Nara? You know I am almost legal adult and I don't need you babying me. It is only ten O'clock and I still have homework to catch up on."
"Alright fine, go to bed whenever you like, but you will regret it in the morning. Sleep well, I am going to get my beauty rest so I don't end up looking like you," and with that she turned and pranced away. I walked up my short flight of stairs to my raised bedroom, hacked into the security footage and began working.

Hey guys, I am not even going to say sorry because I am pretty sure you have all heard it before. I may start writing a bit more though. I also might take down or delete my other story since it is kind of badly written and I have better ideas on the go.
