Jc's Point Of View
•••"I'm... HUNGRY!" I shouted. I couldn't say it...
My mother knew that's not what I meant though so she got up leaving the rest of my family piled on the couch, questioning.
She came back two minutes later.
Crunch. The sound of Frosted Animal Crackers hit my chest and fell to the ground.
"Jc. Tell the truth. You're leaving in 3 hours. We need to know, babe." The tone in her voice started out serious but ended lovingly.
I scratched my arm. Fearful of what they'd say.
"Mom, you're right. That's not what I wanted to say. What I actually wanted to say is.. That.. I'm.. - I have... - I have a crush on Kian. And he likes me too... And well." I paused. Catching my breath and fixed my beanie. "Since he likes me too. I think we're going to kinda sorta maybe start dating."
I started to cry as my mom and dad did too.
Joe Felix and Ava were still too young to understand. I thought Jaylin was too, but when she clarified what I just said in front of the whole family, that changed my mind.
My mom stopped crying and put on a stern look and pointed a finger. "Get. Out."
She was scaring me.. "Get. Out." She said again.
"Uh... What?" I said.
"You heard your mother Jc. You're a disgrace to this family." He paused and pick up a book. "GET OUT." He threw the book, hitting me in the stomach.
I started to cry.. And ya'll know I'm a pretty tough guy. Just rejection didn't settle so well in my stomach.. Neither did that book.
"GET OUT NOW, JC." My mom threw my phone at me. I ducked and the phone hit the wall, shattering.
"WHAT THE HELL MOM. CALM THE FU-" I censored myself for my kids who were still watching in fear. "-UDGE DOWN." I screamed back. At the time it seemed like an okay idea but now, I realize it was the worse thing I could've done.
Jaylin, Ava and Felix we're bursted into tears. They'd never seen our parents do that to another child.
•••I left the house. I Decided to go get my phone fixed extremely quick before I left for my flight.
Jaylin came up to me when everyone else was gone. She tugged on my leg.
I looked down. "Jc, I still love you." She said.
I teared up and gave her a big hug and kiss. "Thank you, cutie."
She smiled. Just her smile alone could brighten up any day. "Who cares who you want to date. Why does that matter so much to mommy and daddy?"
"Because mommy and daddy... Well. They aren't very... open minded."
"Oh. Okay." She played along although she had no clue what that meant.
"Bye Jaylin. I love you with all my heart." I gave her kisses and hugs while she giggled and gestured she loves me too.
"Bye Jc." She was sad. I felt bad not telling her I may never see her again.
