"Hey, I'm A'lani, I'm 16 years old and have been living in Arizona with my dad, attending a boarding school. He was stationed overseas and decided to send me back to live with my mother & brother in Chicago."

I got off the plane and grabbed my bags, I saw my mom and my brother Travis. Their faces lit up once they saw me.

"Mom!" *hugs*

"Sweetheart, ugh 3 years felt like forever!"

"I know I should've visited."

My mom let me go and I looked over at my brother who was awkwardly standing there.

"Did you not miss me?"

"Yea I missed you. You're my little sister."

He pulled me into a hug. I stood right under his chest. He was tall, slim, and darkskin like our dad, I took after our mom, short, slim, thick, and light skin (she's Puerto Rican).

*at A'lani's house*

I walked upstairs and opened the door to my room, everything was the same. I set my bags down and jumped onto the bed.

"Lani! Tryn is here!"

I rolled my eyes. Don't get me wrong I love my best friend, but jet lag was no joke. I sat up and walked downstairs she was sitting at the counter as soon as she saw me she jumped up and ran towards me.

Trynity hugged me tightly and rocked me back and forth.

"Oh my god! Lord knows I missed you sooo much."

"I missed you too, facetime calls did no justice."

She let me go and we went upstairs.

"So tell me, anything happened at that boarding school that wasn't meant to be spoken over the phone?"

"No, nobody really caught my attention, felt like everybody had the same vibe. Nothing different."

"I know why nobody 'caught your attention".

"Oh really, why?"

"Lani.... c'mon we've known each since we were in kindergarten, I know you like the back of my hand. You didn't find anybody out there because you attracted to dope slangin, savage, gun tottin, lean sippin, weed rollin niggas" *smirks*

"Ohh come on that's not completely true. I dated that one cute chico for like 3 weeks."

"But there's a reason you broke up with him; because when he went to that party and he spilled the lean, and fucked up the blunt in the process of rollin it."

Tryn wasn't wrong.

"......."

"Exactly, my point proven. But speaking of dope slangin niggas, have you tal-"

"No and I don't plan too."

"A'lani... that boy was your first love, you can't act like y'all don't have history. I mean yea the way you guys ended was some what bad bu-"

"Some what bad? Trynity he told the whole school he took my virginity in his cousin's station wagon in an alley. Which never happened, I never even let him put his hands there. He was just mad because he wanted some and wasn't finna give it to him just yet, so when he kept pursuing it, I left. Not finna pressure me into some quicky. He was just a mad bitch nigga"

Tryn was at a loss for words. She played with the charms on her necklace. I got up and reached for my suitcase and started unpacking my clothes.

"So 'speaking of niggas in general', how are you and TJ?"
