Colby's dad left the house leaving just Colby, Sam and Colby's mum standing in the hallway, Colby looked up, and then walked past Sam and his mum, he reached the stairs and started to walk up them, as he reached the top, Colby's mum looked at Sam and said.

"Speak to him, I need to find my husband."

She then left the house, so Sam walked to the stairs and started to walk up, as he reached the top, he saw Colby just sitting in his room, he entered the room and placed a hand on Colby's shoulder, but Colby shook it off.

"Look, Colby, he's pissed off, he probably didn't mean it, when your mum gets him back home, he'll probably apologize, everythi-" but Colby cut him off.

"Don't say everything will be alright, you keep saying that, and shit keeps getting worst."

"So what, you're saying that every time I say 'everything will be alright', that then causes everything to not be alright?"

"I don't know, what I do know is, that my dad hates me, all because I didn't get on the fucking football team, and now he clearly prefers you to his own son."

"That's not true."

"Well you heard him, the other day, he said 'at least Sam made the team' and now it's 'oh yeah, Sam, the one who made the team' where he then proceeded to call me a disappointment."

"I wouldn't say that means he prefers me to you."

"YOU FUCKING HEARD HIM, HE FUCKING LOVES YOU, JUST BECAUSE OF THAT FUCKING SPORT."

"You don't need to yell at me alright, but it sounds like you think this is my fault."

"Well you persuaded me to tryout for the team."

"WHAT, no I didn't, you said you would tryout with me, because it would make your dad proud, how's that my fault."

"No, I said it would've made my dad proud, but he didn't care if I was on the team, he would've just been proud of me if I was, but no, you kept going, 'tryout, come on Colby, you need to tryout', and now look what's happened."

"You could've just said no."

"I DID, and you kept fucking pestering me about it until I said OK."

"Well I didn't know this shit would happen, do you think I want to know that my best friends dad hates his son cause he didn't get on the team when I did."

"No, but you could've just stopped asking me to tryout and then I wouldn't be in this fucking mess, but no, you hate to keep asking me, so yeah, sorry if I do see this as your fault."

"You know what, fuck you Colby, I've been your friend since kindergarten, we've been through some tough shit together, and you blame this all on me, and after I've been here for you through all this, and my repayment is being blamed for all this."

Colby just stared at him.

"You weren't saying all this fucking bullshit the other day when I was there for you when you were crying your eyes out, no, but I was there for you, as always, cause that's what friends do Colby, they look out for each other, not suddenly turn around and blame it all on them, so you know what, you can try and get through all this stupid drama on your own, I'm done, why should I look out for someone who blames me for everything, so if your dad does stop loving you and need someone to comfort you, don't come crying to me, cause I won't care."

With that, Sam left, Colby just sat and listened as the door was slammed shut.

With all the anger inside him, Colby didn't realize at that moment that he had just lost the one person that was there for him through all this, but when he did realize, it would set him down a dark path, one that he would need help escaping, and he just lost that help.

I know you might see his mum as someone who's there for him but, she's not exactly been there for him has she, no, she's just stood by while Sam was there so yeah, at this moment, Colby is alone.
