Camille Fields

It was friday afternoon and I was waiting outside of school for Cassie to come pick me up.

Faye and Alya were coming with me. They were jabbering about Brian and Jake. I grinned, as I glanced over to them.

I perceived Alya's outfit: Red skirt, blue tank-top tucked into it and red ballerinas. Today her hair was put into a braid just like the rest of the days of this week.

Faye was wearing a red dress with white dots on it and white high heels. She looked... cute.

While I inspected their outfits, I noticed a boy in the background, sitting against a wall, with his head tilted backwards, smoke exiting his mouth and curling in the air.

When the smoke was released, he faced his two male friends that were standing next to him.

I squinted my eyes for a better view.

It wasn't a surprise when I recognized the boys.

Brian, Jake and Justin.

He dragged on his cigarette again, and made smoke-filled 'O's. My head shuddered in disappointment.

''Camille? Earth on Cam? YO! CAMILLE!'' Faye's voice drove me out of my thoughts.

I averted my eyes from the background to encounter Faye's aggravated exression. Her hand was propped on her hip.

''Yeeeeeeeees?'' I chanted slowly.

''What are you doing tonight, for about the hundredth time?'' she questioned with a tone of annoyance.

''Ummm... Nothing really... Yeah...'' I retorted.

Alya shrugged.

After about a minute Faye was busy on her phone and Alya was scratching her nails.

Suddenly I felt someone tap my shoulder. I whirled around. Of course. You. Again. Stop. Why. Idiot. Ugh. Whatever.

Ever since lunch, Justin kept tapping my shoulder. He'd smirk at me and try to make conversation. I was already changed into my lumpy clothes, what does he want from me?

I didn't see anything attractive in me. Especially in white ballerinas, loose blue jeans, and a sloppy white tee.

I don't know what he saw in me at lunch either. I've been invisible all week, and now I'm the princess, according to his world?

My hair looked okay, I guess, but that still didn't mean I was good-looking.

''What's up, honey?'' he confidently greeted me. I furiously crossed my arms and diverted my eyes from him. The overwhelming smell of smoke diffused into my nose.

My stomach lurched.

''Listen, I don't like you.'' I started, using a clear tone, making sure he would freakin' understand. A tiny frown, almost unnoticable, formed on his face, but then disappeared after a wide beam spread. ''I never have and honestly, I promise you even, I never will!''

I made an extremely sarcastic grin that included eyebrow raising. A puzzled look slid into his eyes and even into his smile.

Then I slowly walked away.

''Will you at least give me one chance?'' I heard him call, as I walked to Cassie's car that had finally arrived.

Alya and Faye's heads shot up. They followed, as they noticed me slipping into the car. They noiselessly slid in as well.
