It was Moonchul's first day of college.
Ah.
She wasn't feeling it.
She remembered back to a time when Richard had told her that he'd accompany her on her first day.
"It not as bad as you think," he had said, "It's a hell of a lot better than high school, I can promise you that." He fiddled with his bass guitar.
Moon wasn't looking forward to college at all back then. She was a senior in high school yet still had no clue what she wanted to do in life. She was screwed.Sure, yeah, there was the band...but no matter how much she looked at it Fading From Dawn was just a hobby, and no real career could come from a three membered band that she and her brother decided to create on a whim.
Moon remembered back to when she had originally asked Sooyoon about joining.
"C'mon! It'll be fun! And it's not like you don't know how to play the drums anyways," she was trying to convince her friend, who, as always, was full of anxiety.
"B-But," she had stuttered, "I'm like...not that good...and stuff."
Oh my god, Moon thought rolling her eyes, "You have got to be kidding me."
The girl had been playing the drums since she was thirteen years old and actually had the nerve to look down on her obvious talent; but, she eventually convinced the reserved girl to join, and thus Fading From Dawn was created.
But they hadn't played in nearly a year. The reason being--
No.
Moon wouldn't allow herself to think of why they stopped playing. It made her sick to her stomach, not that her stomach wasn't already upset as it is.
She reluctantly got out of bed, standing in the middle of her room, which looked as if a tornado had ripped through it, bringing everything to chaos. What does one wear on her first day to college? She suddenly remembered that she hadn't done laundry in over a week. Oh well.
Moon ended up wear just about the only thing that was clean in her house. A white mini skirt with blue flower patters around the edge, and a baby blue shirt that, much to Moon's discomfort, showed off her belly. She made sure to grab her well-loved grey hoodie to cover up with before leaving the house with the books she had bought for her classes in the black back pack she carried along with her.
Just as she was about to drive off in her car her cell phone buzzed in her pocket. Moon generally kept her phone on vibrate the majority of the time, for no other reason than the fact that ring tones made her feel sick. Richard loved ring tones. He had a different one just about every week. But never mind that.
She looked at the name that was presented on her phone.
Sooyoon.
"Hello? Moon? I was just calling to make sure you were up," she heard her friend laugh a little, nervously almost, and there was a pause. Moon didn't respond.
"Hello?" Said her friend once again.
"Yeah, I'm up, I was just about to head out."
"Oh, okay," the female paused, as if she expected them to go on into a bigger conversation, but nothing came, "Well...I guess I'll see you there then," Sooyoon hesitated before hanging up.
Moon sat in silence for a while, still in her car, staring at the key's she held in her hand. It was simple. Putting the key in and turning it to start the car, right? On that day did her brother even give that a second thought? She felt herself begin to get sick again. When ever she thought about what had happened, her stomach feels like it collapses into itself.
Eventually, she gave up. There was no way she'd be able to do it - she'd just take the train. That was a lot more simple, and safe.
Moon didn't mind walking, it relaxed her mind. While walking she found that she never really focused on things like current events, such as college, or of past events, such as...that day, or of even future events, such as getting a low paying job and growing up as a complete failure. Instead, she found that while walking, she tended to focus on the small things, such as, wow those plants are really pretty, or, why does the subway always smell like shit? Or even, shit, I've tripped because I don't pay attention to where the fuck I'm going.
The brunette was prepared to feel the smack of the cool pavement hit her face, but the pain never came. Instead, what she did feel, was comforting warmth and a pair of very strong feeling arms keeping her from falling.
Moon immediately stumbled back into her feet and took a step back to see...
...One hell of an attractive guy.
She felt her face heat up ever so slightly as she examined the guy farther.
He was way taller than herself, standing roughly at six foot - she guessed - and had a jaw line that looked as though it could cut diamonds. Damn.
"Uhm, excuse me?" His voice was angelic.
"W-What?" Moon just realised she wasn't listening to a thing he had just said.
The tall man gave a somewhat awkward smile, "I asked if you were okay."
Mentally? Or physically? She decided to go with the latter, "Yeah," there was a slight pause, "I'm fine."
The tall handsome man nodded, "Good," he said, before smiling once more and then walking past Moon. And her time of happiness ended. Now she'd never see him again. Damn. He was so drop dead gorgeous.
She sighed and adjusted her back pack on her shoulders before continuing on her way, paying for her train ticket and then waiting to board the train leading to her destination.Once off the train, she walked a few ways to where hell awaited, looking around nervously for her blonde haired friend. When there was no sign of her, Moon took a seat on the cement stairs, waiting.
Among the crowed of people, Moon could probably spot four that she knew from high school - the rest were like foreign invaders from a whole different planet, and apparently others thought the same of her. Every now and then, a girl or a boy would gaze at Moon for an extended amount of time, trying to figure out if they knew her, and honestly, she felt kind of uncomfortable. She began to feel rather awkward, and out of place until she realised that someone had been standing in front of her for - god knows how long.
"Earth to Moonchul?" Her friend called out.
She looked up to see her blonde friend dressed rather stylish, with purple skinny jeans and a long black shirt with a sleeve hanging off the shoulder reading 'follow your dreams', stars surrounding it.
"You look nice," she commented.
Sooyoon smiled, "Thanks!" She mused, "But you do too! I don't think I've seen you wear a skirt in ages."
Moon just nodded, standing up from the stairs. When was the last time she wore a skirt? Oh yeah. At the funeral. A long black skirt. Picked out by none other than the girl in front of her. She had too, because Moon wasn't going to, that was for sure. She still had a hard time accepting it.
"Moon?"
Apparently she spaced out again.
"You're...kind of out of it today," Sooyoon said, obviously concerned. But she knew better than anyone what was wrong, "Are you okay?" She knew the answer to that also.
No. "Yeah. Just tired."
Sooyoon paused for a moment or two. Moon, of course, knew that her friend knew she was lying, but as always she was too reserved to say anything about it.
"Well...we should go inside and look for our lockers and everything."
Moon just nodded again, and followed Sooyoon into the building. College.
This would be one bumpy ride.
