Aunt Heather and I picked Nick up at 5 o'clock. He was whining and complaining because he wanted to stay longer at his friend's party even though everyone had already left.

'I wanted to jump on the trampoline,' he complained.

'You already spent half the day jumping on the trampoline,' I told him.

He glared at me and looked out the window of the car. I rolled my eyes at him and then put my headphones on and scrolled through my playlist. My aunt drove just below the speed limit as the car traveled down the highway.

After five minutes  brother began whining at Aunt Heather that he was hungry. She turned her head to tell him that we almost home. As she did that I looked out the window on Nick's side of the car, to see a large,  black van coming around the bend in the road in the other lane, going way to fast.

'Aunt Heather,' I said loudly.

But I was seconds too late as the other car drifted across the lane and began to skid. Aunt Heather tried to swerve the car but the van  just smashed straight into the drivers side of the our car.

And that was that.
