Chapter 1: So that's it?

Beth scoffed as her grandmother finished the stupid story."So that's it? No grand fight scene? No romantic love scene?" She questioned with annoyance. Her grandmother had gotten her so excited about a story that had happened a hundred years ago and then just finishes it like that.

"That was unbelievably boring!" Beth complained, earning a smack upside the head from her elder."Sorry Grams, I was just expecting more from the story then just Bam, the boy runs and the kids and girl die!" She exclaimed, throwing her slender hands in the air.

"I know, dear. But it's been passed down for so long that it ga lost some of it's touch and facts." The grey haired women soothed as she braided Beth's darkened brown hair. Frail hands worked quickly since the story had finished, knowing darn good and well that the girl before her would hold still for only a few more seconds.

As if on schedule, Beth sat up as her grandmother tied off the ends an sat back."Well I'm going to go help mamma in the garden, I'll see you at dusk for dinner Grams." Beth said over her shoulder as she made her way out the small cabin into their secluded village."Be safe, Bethany!!!" Her grandmother shouted as the tiny wood door slammed behind the petite girl.

She scanned the garden with her pale blue eyes before they landed on an aged women, known as the town healer or her mother."Momma, I'm here to help." Beth smiled, bending down to sit alongside her mother and help pull the infesting weeds from their growing vegetables, lifting her dress out if the way so no dirt could destroy it.

By time the sun started drifting down all the weeds had been torn from the ground and tossed into a basket, the basket now in Beth's hands as she carried them off to be burned in the woods.

She walked toward the village entrance slowly, taking in the new head of a wolf that was supposed to be one of the few remaining werewolves. But by the color if it's eyes Beth could tell it was only an animal and nothing more.

She was alone as she dumped the unwanted plant in the fire. Her body would quickly turn around at any sign or sound of a threat in the forest.

Beth finally relaxed as she started to make her way back home, freezing at the sound that came from a bush. A deep growling that made her body practically turn to stone as she made eye contact with dark grey eyes that where followed by a foaming, snapping muzzle. Beth instantly screamed and willed her body to run and run she did, with the beast hot on her trail until she was inside the village with men charging out with pitch forks and torches.
