The Interesting Fellow

The cold breeze made it's way past Kai's face as he walked pass the dozens of people crammed together on the side walk, all locked in on conversations with each other on on their phones.

He squeezed his way past everyone as he held his bag's left strap with left hand, close to him so he passes through better.

Even though it's quite irritating to him doing so, on top of the snow falling onto his already freezing face.

It's December 2028, Christmas time in New York City where 20 year old Kai is currently attending College. He finished High School and got into NYU through ED, and no it wasn't through his connection with Monarch despite his Mom pulling some strings.

It's also been over a year since the battles at Malenka and Rio, where they defeated the Skar King and liberated the Great Apes and Shimo. And in the mean time, Kai would be taking a bit of a break.

Not exactly willingly as he was instructed by both his Mom and Monarch to interfere less in Titan conflicts, his heavy presence began to make him more controversial than before.

So now, he's on down time and indulging in his personal life.

A buzz in his pocket bring his attention and he's takes out his phone and sees Madison calling him, he picks up.

"Hey Mads, what's up?" he asked.

"Just wanted to check in on you, how's college treating you"

"Well besides the stares and slight sneers every so often, great actually" he half-heartedly joked.

"I'm sorry, those people are just assholes. They don't understand you" Madison said in a serious tone.

"Can't totally fault them, so many people have lost friends and family to these attacks"

"Doesn't mean you deserve that"

He paused, "Anyways, Monarch's still tracking that missing Titan"

"It's odd, it'd not even showing up anywhere. The last place we even tracked it at was Jamaica where that ship was shredded, the footprints seemed to be leading to the ocean up the east coast"

Kai instantly was prepared, if that Titan made it's way over here it wasn't gonna be pretty.

"I'll keep my eye out" Kai told her.

She sighed, "You know to just let the military handle it right?"

He scoffed at that, "Yes, because regular weapons work against them all the time. This is people's lives at risk, I'm stopping it whether Monarch likes it or not"

"That's one of the things I like about you you know? Your stubbornness and care for people, but don't say I didn't warn you"

"You will say it probably, talk to ya later Madhatter" he smiled.

"You too Ki"

He hangs up the phone just as he arrives in Washington Square Park, he goes through his notes as he accidentally bumps into someone a bit hard and nearly hits the ground.

But he feels his back and waist being grabbed as he's suddenly suspended in mid air, it looked like a scene out of a rom com flick.

"My bad, I just didn't see ya there for a sec" the stranger who bumped into him spoke, his voice a bit low but one that held some mischief in it.

Kai looked at his face and blushed a bit. The man had blue eyes, Brown hair, and some stubble across his face.

"No it's my fault, I should've paid attention to where I was going" he told the man who shook his head.

"Well you seem to be the bookworm type the way you were in those notes of yours" the man pointed to his scattered mess across the ground, which Kai rapidly picked back up in embarrassment.

"I take it that you go to school here" the man referred to the campus around them "Yeah actually, you go here also?"

The stranger shook his head, "Nah I'm just passing through here, I wanted to see the tree real quick but I decided to take a stroll here"

"Well Christmas time here is a wonder, what's your name?" Kai asked the man.

"Ryan, at your service" he playfully bowed, which Kai chuckled at as he extended his hand out to him "Kai"

"Your name sounds familiar, you famous or something?" Ryan asked Kai, who's heart skipped a beat at the question.

He wasn't about to tell this guy that he was the guy who can grow into a super sized ape who's at the center of a lot of social and political controversy.

"Nah,y-you probably got me mixed up with someone else" he stuttered a bit as Ryan hummed as acknowledgment, but was still slightly skeptical.

"Well look, we've been talking a bit and it'd be rude of me to not at least offer you my number" Ryan smirked as he handed his phone out to Kai.

Kai stuttered a bit, he was in disbelief. This guy is already quick to exchange numbers, you've only known me for 2 minutes!

Kai reluctantly took his phone and typed in his number into Ryan's phone, who smiled in accomplishment.

"Well it was seeing you Kai, see you around" Ryan said as he began to walk away, with Kai taken aback by how far that went.

He tried to follow him, but suddenly.

An alarm began to blare all throughout New York City, people all around him begin to panic and head inside of buildings and the subway system.

Kai started to run the other way as he feels the snowflakes hitting his face, he didn't want to draw much attention and possibly harm people.

As he sprinted, Kai tried to focus on where the Titan's exact position was. It's close, but no to close to pose as a serious threat to the city. He sighed in relief as he headed inside a building and up the stairwell to the roof as others ran into the shelter.

He exited out on top and overlooked the skyline, making sure they were totally safe from the potential threat.

The screams and panic noise begin to dim slightly as less and less people filled the streets of Manhattan.

He stood there as the city went silent, but could hear the faint growl of the creature towards the water and can even here's the tail swipe against the currents.

Kai glared over towards the noise, a nonverbal threat towards the creature to dare it ever decide to come over here.

Electricity surging on his hands as he tried to regulate himself.

The young man sighed in content as the electricity vanished as he sat on the building ledge over looking the City.

Attention, the Titan threat has been cancelled, please resume regular life.

An announcement blared as he watched below people fill up the streets slowly again, he looked up as the slightly pink sky and sees the moon at his full visibility.

Wondering if there could be something better out there that could come to Earth soon, he hoped.

Hoping they wouldn't have to deal with something like Ghidorah ever again.
