I eventually arrived at my apartment 6F and searched my bag vigorously for the key. I unlocked the door and when I opened it, I realised that my worst nightmare had come through. The house was a wreck; there was books thrown everywhere with pages scattered, The TV was smashed and the glass coffee table in the centre of the living room was broken into thousands of pieces with tiny sharpness of glass all over the room. I glanced over at the window and I felt my stomach turn. It was wide open. I knew that they had taken Polly and my Dad. They had broken into our apartment and taken my family. I walk into my kitchen and in the corner of my eye I spot a white sheet of paper on the marble counter top. I hurriedly rush over to see what it is and I discover it is a note. It’s only a short note written in jagged cursive writing which reads.
“We’ve got your dad and your sister. If you want them to live be at the back entrance to the train station at 6:45pm. Call the police and we’ll kill them.”
My hand is quivering after reading the note. I glance up at the clock on the wall. It’s 6:30. Shit I only have 15 minutes to get to the train station. Without thinking another moment, I run out of my apartment and sprint down the roads of the city as fast as I can. I dodge every obstacle in my way and push my way through the crowds on the footpath. I look at my watch again. 6:43. Two minutes is all I have. I dart down the streets as fast as I can and when I reach the back of the train station I’m gasping for breath. The place is completely empty. I look down at my watch. 6:47. I’m too late. They’re going to kill them now. I need to think and think fast of a plan to save them. I must find them before it’s too late. All of a sudden, I hear quick loud footsteps approach from behind me and before I even have the time to turn around I feel myself lose my vision and fall to the ground.
When I wake up, my vision is still blurry but I can sense I am in a different location. My hands are tied onto the back of a chair and I am unable to move. I struggle trying to untie myself from the chair and I hear a cold, cruel laugh come from behind me. My ears deceive me at first and I think it is harsh laughter of my ex-boyfriend Toby I am hearing but then I realise it can’t be. It must his eldest sibling, Lorcan I am hearing. Out of all of his brothers, Lorcan was the one who most resembled Toby. They had the same brown eyes and sandy blond hair, the same cruel manipulative smile and the same devious, abusive personality. All 3 of his brothers were the same really.
“We thought you’d never show up for us Haley. We were getting concerned that you forgot.”
Even though I could not see him I could sense his cocky half smirk. I hear more footsteps around the room. I know that I and Lorcan aren’t in here unaccompanied.
“Where are they?” I hiss at him. “You have me now let them go.” My sight is slowly being restored. I can make out a green and red painting on the wall that looks strangely familiar.
“But what’s the fun in that?” Lorcan sneers at me. Then it hits me. I know where I am. That red and green painting on the wall. I picked that out. This was where I and Toby used to live. This was our living room; the place where I killed Toby that night in self-defence as he was trying to kill me first.
I hear a different voice, this time it’s Joshua, the youngest one of the brothers. “You remember this place? This place where you murdered our brother. Well, this is the place where you’re going to watch your loved ones die too, before we kill you.” Please make this be all be a nightmare
I didn’t know what I was going to do. I glanced over and see both my fathers and Polly’s unconscious body’s tied up just like I am. I feel a lump in my throat. I must not cry, I think, I must not cry. I had to do something, and fast. I try to free my hands from the rope and I feel it getting loose. “Don’t” I beg Lorcan as I see him put the revolver at my father’s head, still unconscious; but it’s too late, BANG! I scream as soon as I hear it, finally freeing myself from the ropes. I run over and pick up a vase and smash it across Lorcan’s head knocking him to the ground. I pick up Lorcans revolver from the ground, before Joshua and the other brother, Ben can react and I shoot at the randomly hitting Ben twice in the chest and Joshua in the leg. I run into the next room quickly and pick up the phone and dial 999. I them to send a police and ambulance over here urgently. I see Joshua pulling his way over towards his revolver lying on the ground. I run over to grab it from him when I feel something knock me on the back of the head. I put my on my head and realise it is bleeding. When I look up I see Lorcan hovering above me, trying to grab the revolver out of my hand but I put up a fight, hopelessly trying to kick him off of me. With the revolver still in my hand I decided to shoot and I hear a cry of death. I had hit Lorcan right in the chest and his body collapsed. I shoved his dead corpse off of me and I got myself to my feet again.
Joshua had managed to get to his feet again and was holding the gun towards Polly, who was still unconscious. “One more move, and she’s dead” He warns me. But I don’t even have to move, next thing I know I hear sirens and see a blue and red light flash from out the window. “It’s over Joshua, drop the gun” I say, aiming my gun towards him. “No, it’s not over.” I hear him say and before he can pull the trigger I pull mine and a bullet fly’s right through his head, killing him instantly.
The doors kick open behind me. My hands are quivering as I look around and drop the gun. The dead bodies of the 3 brothers and my father lying there and my 7 year old sister, tied up barely harmed sitting there on a wooden chair. I turn around with police officers in a total state of shock behind me. Paying little attention to them, I run over to Polly and untie her from the chair, the must have drugged her up well as she was still asleep. “We’re safe” I whisper to her. “We’re going to be fine I promise.”
