The sound of gunfire ripped through the Morning.....
Bullets danced like sparks—cold, merciless.

And before Xiao Zhan could react, a smaller figure moved in front of him—
a blur of white shirt and trembling hands.

The next second, the world stopped.
A sharp crack.
A gasp.
And then silence, heavier than death itself.

Yibo’s body jolted as the bullet hit, his chest  almost giving out before Zhan caught him from behind.
Blood—warm, bright—slid down between their fingers.

“Yibo…?” Zhan’s voice was hoarse, his brain refusing to believe what his eyes saw. “What the hell—what did you just—”

The omega gave a weak smile, eyes half-open, glimmering with something more than pain.
Something Zhan had never been able to name.

“I told you…” Yibo’s voice cracked, a whisper that barely made it past his lips. “You always walk straight into danger… like you don’t care what happens to you.”

“Shut up,” Zhan snapped, pressing his hand over the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. “Why would you—”

“Because you don’t care,” Yibo cut in softly. “So someone has to.”
His eyes lifted to meet Zhan’s, calm and heartbreakingly gentle.
“I couldn’t watch you die not now not ever ”

Zhan froze. Ever ?
The words hit deeper than any bullet ever could.

Yibo smiled faintly, his breath short. “You’ll never understand it, Zhan… and I don’t want you to.”
His voice was trembling, but steady in meaning. “Just… live. For once… live, even if it’s not for me.”

The alpha’s throat burned. He wanted to say a thousand things—wanted to yell, to demand answers, to tell Yibo to stop talking like that. But the words died in his chest.

Yibo’s fingers brushed his wrist weakly. “You were my peace,” he whispered, eyes falling closed. “Even when you became the storm.”with that saying his eyes got closed......

And then the world moved again.
Men shouting, sirens blaring, boots slamming against broken glass—
but all Zhan could hear was that one fading breath against his chest.

He pulled Yibo closer, trembling. “Don’t you dare leave me,” he whispered, the cold mask cracking at last. “Not like this… not when I just realized…”

He didn’t finish. He couldn’t.
Because Yibo had already stopped listening.
The world that night faded into silence—sirens, screams, and the echo of Yibo’s name swallowed by darkness.
