Lyric's P.O.V

I picked up my textbooks up from my desk and grabbed my bag. Finally school is out, being a senior is not fun or easy. It's really tough because you have to make sure your grades are good so you can graduate. Such a pain in my ass, I swear...

I headed out the door, which lead me outside near the quad. Swarms of teenage bodies headed towards the front of the school, trying to get out of this hell hole as fast as they can. I'm not saying the school is bad, its just who wants to stay here 7+ hours a week? I'd rather go to the pond and read some of my books that I haven't been able to read in a while like I'm going to do once I get out of here.

"See you on Monday Lyric!" A 'friend' called out.

I waved at them and sighed. They aren't my friend, they just want attention from me sadly. I walked past the quad and a few people, while others just stopped in front of me for no reason and started to talk to their friend. Ugh seriously annoys me! I quickly walked past them as they starred at me like I did something wrong and adjusted the books in my arms. I wanted to get away from everyone... I feel so uncomfortable. The attention is killing me. I'm so glad the pond is so close to the school and park.

I sat down under a tree and set my books on the grass besides me. The pond had all kinds of ducks swimming around, it was peaceful. There wasn't much talking and I was away from the family set ups. This was my absolutely my happy place to be when I have major anxiety. Just to get away from everyone...everywhere.

I leaned back against the tree closing my eyes, and listened to the ducks and the water. Nothing could beat this amazing moment. Then I remembered I needed to do homework...Ugh! Can't school just chill with the homework, I mean damn! Seriously don't need 6+ pages of it, and it does not take in between 10 and 20 minutes to do one thing. Teachers are such liars... I mean I bet top students could, but just average teenagers... hell no! It takes me about an hour for one subject  to be done. I hardly have free time and it's making me stressed out.

That's when I heard the faint noise of a familiar song played at the amusement park... Ah what was it? Oh yes! Pop Goes The Weasel. I have always loved this song for some odd reason.

I smiled as I continued to hear it, and it grew a bit louder. Is someone walking over here? I opened my eyes quickly looking around, but as soon as I did the song stopped. Hm... maybe it was my weird imagination. My mind probably craved it.

I moved my hand a bit but realizing it was touching the grass and I moved to grab my books. I really should start my work... but I'm having a peaceful moment for once. I sighed as I watched the ducks again. I wish I had a good friend to talk to instead of the ones that just say hi a couple times. I took a piece of my white hair and twirled it around my finger, wondering what I should do.

"Oh I could feed the ducks!"

I had forgotten that I had brought bread with me today. I dug out the bread and opened up the plastic. I stood up and walked over to the water and a few ducks. They fled at first, but then saw what I had and slowly got close. I stuck my hand into the plastic and crushed the bread and then threw it into the water. Many people don't feed them like they used to, so I feed them every other day.

"Hey can I help?" I heard a voice behind me.

I turned around to see a tall guy with raven hair that almost touched his shoulders. He was wearing a black jacket with a black and white shirt. He was also very pale, making me think he was a vampire.

     "Uh...sure."

I held out the plastic bag towards him, and he took a few pieces of bread. I examined his face more and he had very light gray eyes. I never met anyone like this! I've heard about it, but it's really rare.

"Your eyes are really cool." I told him and smiled.

He looked at me startled and glanced away. "Thanks I guess...Anyways why are you all alone? Don't you have friends?" The guy asked me.

I pulled back the bag and held it with my left hand. "I enjoy being solitude, and not really..." I shrugged.

He crushed the bread and sprinkled some in the water.

     "Well why not?"

"People only use me, no one really likes me. I don't really care though."

I looked at the ducks as their quacking got louder, begging for more. I gave them some more and handed it to the guy.

"How about we hang out some time? I don't really like seeing lonely people, it's not my thing. By the way, my name is Jack, nice to meet you." He smiled.

"I'm Lyric, nice to meet you too.Oh and are you serious?" I giggled.

"Of course I'm serious, why would I lie?"

     "Well I don't know."

"So how old are you? Are you in high school or something?" He asked.

"So I don't seem like a weirdo going after people."

What does he mean? He looks seventeen...

      "I'm eighteen." I told him.

"Oh ok, I'm not a creeper, I'm twenty."

"Wow, really? I thought you were younger." I laughed.

He chuckled and fed the ducks some more bread. I'm surprised I haven't seen him before. He is so tall, it's hard to miss. Maybe he just moved here?

     "Hey Lyric..."

He turned to face me again. He wore a serious looking face, with a slight smirk forming. He started to remind me of a guy in a horror movie. It made my heart drop and made me anxious. The atmosphere was unsettling, like it changed out of nowhere. What was wrong with him?

"Didn't your parents ever tell you to not talk to strangers...?"

His voice had a small laugh to it, making me more uncomfortable and wanting to run. I've never felt this way before. I stepped back once, clenching the plastic bag in my hands. Jack seemed like a threat now, and I know I should get away, but I can't move. Then the atmosphere changed again and he grinned widely.

"But how would you make friends then, right?"

I let out a huge sigh and relaxed my muscles. I'm worrying about nothing...calm down.

"Don't do that, I almost got scared." I laughed at him.

"I just joke around a lot, sorry."

I smiled at him. He sure is good at acting, I wonder if he took acting classes, I bet he would've gotten a good grade. I reached into the bag and felt nothing. I looked at it and the bread was gone. Well at least this time I used it all. The ducks slowly swam away, still quacking as a group.

"Well it was nice meeting you Jack, maybe I'll see you around?" I crumpled the bag into a ball.

"Of course, anyways can I have your number?" He asked.

I felt butterflies for a second. No one asked that before! I took a piece of paper and wrote it down.

"Alright, I'll talk to you later then." He winked.
