Tripp

The headline glared up at me from my phone, each word hitting like a punch.

"Legal action pursued. Sources close to Styles confirm."

My jaw locked so hard it hurt. I nearly threw the phone across the room.

He actually did it.

Harry Styles, Mr. Perfect Smile and Golden Boy, had the nerve to file a lawsuit against me. Over her. Over Harper.

I paced the apartment, every step sharp against the floor. My chest felt tight, throat burning with rage that had been simmering for weeks. Months. Ever since she walked out on me with that self righteous little speech about respect and boundaries, like I was the only one who ever lost his temper. She always pushed. Always pushed and then acted shocked when someone pushed back.

Fucking cunt.

And now she had him. Him of all people. The global superstar with the soft voice and the gentle eyes and the public image wrapped in a bow. He got to swoop in and play the hero while I got painted as the villain.

The lawsuit.

He really thought he could ruin me.

He fucking wished.

I grabbed a glass from the counter and hurled it into the sink. It shattered instantly, pieces bouncing across the metal. The sound felt too good. Too quick. I wanted something that lasted longer.

I pressed both hands against the counter and bowed my head, breathing hard. Anger vibrated through my arms. My vision pulsed. I could still see the way she looked at me the last time we crossed paths, like I was something filthy on her shoe. I could still hear her voice telling me she did not owe me anything. Like she had not spent years relying on me. Like she had not come crawling to me more times than she remembered.

And now she was on tour with him. A little shadow trailing behind his spotlight. I saw the photos. Her smiling. His arm around her. Like I was supposed to sit here and watch that circus parade across every social feed without saying a word.

I slammed my fist into the counter. Pain shot up my arm but I did it again anyway.

He wanted to drag me into court. He wanted to embarrass me publicly. He wanted to make me look dangerous so he could be the noble boyfriend standing beside her.

Fine.

If that was the game he wanted to play, then he had no idea who he was dealing with.

He has no idea who my father is.

I opened my laptop and pulled up everything I had saved. Messages. Screenshots. All the little things she had said to me over the years. Every moment of weakness she had ever shared. Every time she told me she missed me. Every time she apologized. Every time she told me I was the only one who understood her.

If he wanted to start something, I could finish it.

Fuck her and fuck him.

My pulse slowed to something cold.

Sharp.

Focused.

She thought she was untouchable now, floating around with a pop star and his entourage. She thought she could erase me. She thought she could pretend none of it ever happened.

But she forgot something.

No one knows Harper like I do.

And no one makes me look like a fool and gets away with it.

Not her.

And definitely not him.
